Cleaning and sterilizing the pacifier
Good pacifier hygiene involves frequent cleaning. The younger the baby, the more important it is to protect the pacifier from bacteria and maintain good hygiene.
Before the first use, the pacifier should be sterilized.
Latex is a natural material that can break at temperatures above 100 degrees Celsius. Therefore, latex pacifiers should not be sterilized in a microwave, steam sterilizer, UV sterilizer, or sterilizing solutions.
Pacifier sterilization involves 3 simple steps:
- Place the pacifier in a clean bowl.
- Pour hot water over the pacifier and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Remove the pacifier onto a clean towel and let it dry.
If water has entered the nipple (through its valve), squeeze the nipple with the towel until the water is released.
