Description

This is the AT2020, the iconic and critically acclaimed cardioid condenser microphone that brought affordable professional quality to the homes and home studios of podcasters, musicians, and voiceover artists.

Designed for clear detail, the critically acclaimed AT2020 redefined budget-friendly technology and has been a consistent favorite among creators for 15 years.

What is a cardioid condenser?

A condenser microphone like the AT2020 contains a thin diaphragm that captures the vibrations of the sounds you want to record. This diaphragm is so thin that it requires power through the XLR cable, ensuring that every aspect of your instrument or voice is captured with clear detail.

Audio-Technica's cardioid microphones have heart - metaphorically and literally - thanks to the shape of the sound capture area. Cardioid microphones capture what is in front of them in a rough heart shape, from the top of the sound capture at the front of the microphone to the graded capture at the sides. This cardioid pattern enhances the isolation of any desired sound source for rich and accurate recording.* The XLR cable is sold separately.

Japanese engineering with creators in mind

The AT2020 was developed based on over half a century of Japanese audio engineering and was created to bring professional-level sound recording to anyone wishing to explore the world of recording. Whether it's for voiceovers, podcasting, vocal singing, or recording live instruments, the AT2020 is the critically acclaimed and iconic cardioid condenser designed for you—and your budget.

Four microphones.
A decent and honest microphone, it does what it says.
Used live in a church.
Churches are difficult spaces with many reflections and many obstacles in between, nevertheless, they stand with dignity.
Clear sound with clarity in the mids and rounded highs.
Lows have been removed due to the space.
With a Soundcraft mixer, two Crown XLi 1002 amplifiers, and 6 Metro Pl8b 8" speakers, they deliver 85 dB at the feedback threshold in an empty space.
So it is an economical and reliable solution for such spaces.
Regarding Scroutz, the service was impeccable and very fast.

update a few days after purchase!
it has relatively low output signal to the sound card compared to some behringer and in many parts of the recording distortion can be heard even though the recording level is very low!
I will check the cable and come back if needed! The final listening of the recording does not leave me satisfied.
a bit dull and lacks treble!
Compared to the slightly more expensive Behringer B-2 it is amateurish! A pity because at first I liked its sound through the headphones!
I do not recommend it and I regret the purchase!

I ordered the microphone and it arrived normally, everything was fine. I started recording but nothing... to cut a long story short, I was plugging into the sound card jack instead of the XLR output. Of course, it didn't work, but it was my mistake and I returned it unfairly. The technician very kindly explained my mistake and they sent it back to me. Excellent service and politeness. I thank them for their service and understanding. Kudos for the professionalism

I believe it is very good for a professional microphone at such a budget price. I have it on my Focusrite Scarlett and I have absolutely no problems. It should be noted that it requires an external sound card because it needs 48V. I really liked that I don't have any problems with consonants (like s, ts, etc.). Audio Technica is very reliable (I also have the M40x)!

It is very good both in construction and sound quality! I use it for radio broadcasting and I was afraid to get a condenser microphone because the space is relatively large, but I am amazed! I would buy it again and again!!! The blue LED light is a nice detail!!!

I was the owner of a Marantz USB microphone but when it was time to change microphone, the Audio Technica AT2020 surprised me as being much better than any microphone worth 90-150€. It doesn't come with XLR, so make sure to get one, and since it is an active microphone, it requires power, so make sure to also get an audio amplifier. I recommend the UMC22 U-Phoria by Behringer, which together with a cable will cost you a total of 150€

A very good microphone for its price.
For use on a PC, you need an external sound card with phantom power or an external power supply because the microphone is active. (it needs power)
