The lens's focal length of 40 mm is the golden mean between wide-angle and telephoto lenses. A slightly wider angle compared to the standard 50 mm will be used in cinematography, street photography, and reportage. Its natural imaging nature will allow you to capture stunning portraits and breathtaking landscapes.

The lens's optical system is derived from a classic helical structure consisting of 5 elements arranged in 3 groups. At the center of the system is an aspherical element, which significantly affects the image quality produced by the lens. The Heliar 40 mm f/2.8 is characterized by very good correction of chromatic aberrations, high micro-contrast, and edge-to-edge sharpness even from a fully open aperture.

A flawlessly functioning diaphragm with ten blades allows you to control the amount of transmitted light. The lens is adjustable from f/2.8 to f/22, providing freedom when working with depth of field. The minimum focusing distance on bodies with the Leica M mount is 70 cm.

Voigtlander lenses are renowned for the highest build quality. Despite its tiny size, the entire lens barrel is made of metal, thanks to which it will maintain precision for many years. The focusing ring moves smoothly but with the resistance required for precise work.

The lens is equipped with a Leica M bayonet, designed for Leica and Voigtlander rangefinder cameras. Using a suitable bayonet adapter, it can be mounted on any mirrorless camera Canon R, Fujifilm X, Nikon Z, Sony E, or Micro 4/3.
