The present book "From Nietzsche to the Digital Age: The Issue of Pain" is the final part of the trilogy on negative emotions, following the writings Despair (2019) and The Philosophy of Fear (2021).
Pain is an emotion that all people experience and, consequently, can be understood by everyone. We feel physical, mental, spiritual, and moral pain. We suffer from illnesses, from compassion, from the loss of loved ones, and from our existential anxiety in anticipation of our death.
-Why and how should we live when we know we will lose others and eventually die ourselves?
-How can we endure all these sufferings?
The aim of this study is for the reader to find answers to the issues of pain and to shape a personal understanding of their own life experiences. Particularly in the digital age, where pain and suffering have come to the forefront mainly due to the pandemic and the ongoing crises of societies, the analysis of pain as a phenomenon seems more urgent than ever, decisively determining the future of each individual.
In this philosophical essay, I attempt to provide some fragments of answers to the paradoxical mystery of life. I believe that art and philosophy contain therapeutic power, serving the development of life.
