The infusion made from the flowers or leaves helps restore blood pressure levels to normal. The flowers of hawthorn, alone or with other calming plants, are useful against insomnia and menopause-related discomfort.

For "nervous insomnia," a decoction of the flowers is recommended: 2 tablespoons of flowers for 1 cup of boiling water, with a dosage of 2-3 cups a day, for 1 month. The liquid extract of the plant is advised for angina, while the dried fruits of the plant can be prepared as astringent decoction and are very effective against diarrhea.

The bark of the plant, collected from young branches in early spring, is recommended as an antipyretic. An infusion is made from the flowers, which acts as a heart tonic (10 g in 1 liter of water), while the fruits are used as an infusion for sore throat (10 g in 1 liter of water).

The flowers and fruits are used against hypertension as an infusion (4 tablespoons of the plant in 750 g of water, dosage of 1 glass a day) or as a tincture (preferably 10-25 drops in water, 3 times a day).
