The beard and fabrics are soft and do not smell like plastic like some others... also, it is large (read product description) it is truly worth the money. I put it under the tree every year and enjoy it very much! I might get a second one at some point. UPDATE: Despite the careful packaging I give it every year, this year (4th Christmas) its nose no longer lights up, something must have burned out - it’s not the battery as I tried with a new one
