Description

Description

Barbera is usually harvested in the first week of October, when it is nicely ripe and rich in sugar. The Barbera of Pio Cesare comes from vineyards located right next to the vineyards where Nebbiolo is found, in the area where Barolo is also produced.

This explains the particular strength and depth of this Barbera, while the wine also has nice maturity and elegance.

Fermentation lasts about 10 to 12 days. It then matures for a year in French oak barrels of 225Lt, part of it and the rest in 600Lt barrels. This keeps the wine balanced, with this particular combination of strength, fruit, and freshness.
