Laboratory tests of the ÖKO level-2 filter have shown a removal of 99.994% of e-coli, 99.9999% of cryptosporidium, and giardia lamblia, the widely found bacteria in lakes, streams, and international water sources. The material uses a positively charged electrosorption process to attract and trap harmful agents much smaller than the size of the pores. ÖKO water bottles are made from a custom blend of plastics that have passed strict SGS tests for FDA food contact safety. The bottle body is made from an extremely lightweight polypropylene material commonly used in food storage containers.
