A Super Tuscan from the winery Antinori. Tignanello is without a doubt the flagship of both the winery and the philosophy of Super Toscana. The Tenuta Tignanello estate is located in the heart of Chianti Classico, on the slopes between the valleys of the Greve and Pesa rivers and spans an area of 788 acres, of which approximately 321 acres are planted with vineyards.
Two of the estate's precious vineyards are located on the same slope, Tignanello and Solaia, on soils rich in limestone and shale, originating from Pliocene marine marl. The vines enjoy warm temperatures during the day and cooler nights throughout the growing season, and the soils are limestone rocky with marl.
The finesse and elegance of this wine are already apparent from its bottle. The blend is dominated by Sangiovese, from indigenous vineyards of native Italian varieties, while Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc complete the blend. The wine was aged in French and Hungarian barrels, both first and second-use, for a total of 14-16 months, and then aged for an additional 12 months in the bottle.
Tignanello 2019 has an intense ruby color. Complex notes of red fruits, aromas of apricots and peaches with hints of vanilla, dried flowers, chocolate, and spices. Its aromatic bouquet is complemented by notes of coffee, caramel, and Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, the wine is rich and lively with silky tannins.
