Kikones is the first winery established in the Rhodope region in 2004 by Melina Tassou, Agronomist - Oenologist D.N.O. Bordeaux. The goal of Kikones is to revive the viticultural zone of Thrace. The winery was named "Kikones," in honor of the first people who ever produced wine in the land of Thrace.
It has 100 acres of privately owned organic vineyards, in the beautiful Maronia of Rhodope. An excellent example of the Chardonnay variety, in one of its best and most unique winemaking approaches in Greece.
With the method of batonnage, which is the regular manual stirring of lees included in the barrel during the 7 months of maturation, the maximum aromatic and flavor concentration is achieved.
The result is a rich white wine with the best characteristics of the variety, carefully and measuredly combined with the noble characteristics of the French oak barrel.
