The 70-180mm F2.8 G2 marks the further evolution of the first-generation model, which earned great recognition in the market, and incorporates several improvements. At the top of the list of improvements in the new G2 lens is the integration of TAMRON’s VC (Vibration Compensation) mechanism. The lens retains the versatility of the category’s leading compact size and weight, while allowing shooting with greater stability.
The optical design has been improved compared to the first-generation 70-180mm F2.8 and achieves uncompromising high image quality throughout the zoom range. TAMRON has also reduced the minimum focusing distance at the wide end to 0.3m compared to 0.85m in the first generation, allowing users to create distinctive images.
The new 70-180 also features TAMRON’s extremely fast VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) focusing mechanism, which enables high-speed, high-precision autofocus that performs well whether you are shooting stills or video.
The new 70-180mm F2.8 G2 zoom also supports the exclusive TAMRON Lens Utility™ and TAMRON Lens Utility Mobile™ applications developed in-house by TAMRON. The software can be used to customize functions based on various shooting styles for still photography and video.
The lens’s new design improves functionality and provides scratch resistance. This new lens combines the quality, versatility, and practicality found in all second-generation G2 lenses and will deliver shooting experiences that make a fast-aperture telephoto zoom even more enjoyable.
