Description

Aqara FP2 Presence Sensor

The Aqara FP2 presence sensor uses cutting-edge millimeter wave radar technology, which accurately detects the presence of people even with small movements. This technology ensures stable and reliable operation of the smart sensor and allows for zone functionality, so that different conditions can be automated in each zone, such as beds or desks. A space can be divided into up to 30 small zones and recognize up to five people simultaneously (multi-person detection). In addition, it can control other smart devices through ecosystems such as Apple Home, and features functions like fall detection and a built-in light sensor, offering complete automation and flexibility in your space.

Zone Placement & Multiple Person Detection

The placement of zones allows monitoring of rooms up to approximately 40 m² with a single sensor, while each zone can have separate automations, as if multiple PIR sensors are being used simultaneously.

Multi-person detection allows simultaneous monitoring of up to 5 people, automatically responding to their position without interfering with each other. Radar technology ensures extremely high accuracy without collecting actual images, and automations can be executed locally for greater security and privacy.

Operates Locally Even in Case of Wi-Fi Instability

After installation, the FP2 operates locally even in case of Wi-Fi instability, protecting privacy. It features flexible installation methods and is resistant to wet environments (IPX5). The USB-C port allows for easy connection and cable adjustment for greater flexibility in placement.

Quite a good presence sensor, with satisfactory capability to control zones within its field, as well as detecting multiple people in the space.

An interesting feature is the ability to learn the space, where with a bit more processing during the initial installation, you can set entry and exit points, points that should be ignored, etc., making it potentially exactly what you need in each case.

The installation process, although quite simple, takes a little time both for checking the room, the initial parameters, and connecting to the local network, with the only negative being that on all 3/3 I installed, the sensors' QR code did not work, resulting in having to add them manually from the device list in the company's app.

It is also important to mention that a Hub is not needed, as it can connect directly to a router via the app, although it can also be connected to a Hub to improve its automations.

The best multi-zone presence sensor there is. Excellent collaboration with home assistant, extremely short cooldown time in the zones, and exceptional accuracy in detection. Just be careful with the placement to cover the entire area of interest.
