Description

Description

The TP-LINK TL-PA8010P Kit is a set of Powerline Adapters that helps create a fast and stable broadband network in your home or office using the building's electrical outlets.

It supports data transfer speeds of up to 1200Mbps, providing extremely fast internet connection and reliable performance for online gaming, video streaming, large file transfers, and other demanding activities. It features easy installation and setup with an integrated Passthrough socket that allows you to use the same outlet to connect other devices.

2x2 MIMO

  • Greater range, The MIMO technology with Beamforming maximizes performance on independent streams, which improves coverage throughout the home, especially hard-to-reach outlets.
  • More stable connections, It can use the 3 wires, including live, neutral, and ground, to create multiple data paths, which means you benefit from faster data performance and more stable connections.

Plug and Play

Connect a powerline adapter to the router, connect another powerline adapter to a wall socket in another room, and connect it to your Internet-enabled device via Ethernet - and you're done!

Power outlet

The built-in power socket, with an output power of up to 16A, means that the device can be used like a traditional electrical socket. Simply plug in your device or extension cord as if it were a regular wall socket. The built-in noise filter also helps prevent electrical signal noise from affecting the Powerline's performance.

Energy savings up to 85%

The TL-PA8010P KIT is a next-generation Powerline adapter. The advanced energy-saving function automatically switches from the regular "Working" mode to the "Energy Saving" mode, reducing energy consumption by up to 85%.

It does what it should. It provides stable speed, without disconnections, even when several floors and electrical panels are in between.

Upgrade firmware to the latest unofficial version from the TP-LINK forum, for example the current one is 2.13. It does not have any disconnections and maintains satisfactory speeds even between different electrical circuits in the same house.

It was purchased to replace a pair of pa7017p from the same company in the same sockets because they were only reaching half the speed of the 100mbps connection. I thought that a newer model with mimo technology would provide an improvement. But what luck! The 7017s were synchronizing at 150mbps according to the application, with a measured speed of 45-50. The 8010p synchronized at 70 according to the application, with a measured speed of 20... With the plc to vdsl interference mode option, the speed decreased even more (12mbps).

I can see myself digging into the wall for the next house painting to pass ethernet cables. I tried a 20-meter loose cable to see if something else was causing the issue and it works fine at gigabit speed, so the weak link is the plc. Maybe I'll also try the devolo, which is considered the best in the field.

However, this specific model is not recommended. With cheaper options, you will see better results.

It is better compared to others of its kind, but even with this technology (2x2 MIMO), it has speed losses

I had done a speed test before activating them and I got 17ms 33.17Mbps (download), 4.13Mbps (upload). And as soon as I installed them, doing two speed tests, I got 20ms 49.91Mbps (download), 4.77Mbps (upload) (I have a 50 Mbps line with Vodafone)

I live in an old building from 1975 and it is expected that the electrical wiring is outdated, but not to the point where I only get 100 Mbps in adjacent rooms! I bought them to replace the corresponding 500 Mbps ones with which I only got 60 Mbps. I saw a slight improvement, but the performance/cost ratio wasn't worth it in the end.
