a networking escape room that comes free with the repeater

I bought this repeater with the innocent thought that I would "plug it in and have Wi-Fi." In the end, I bought a full training program in networking, DHCP, roaming, Linux logs, and psychological endurance.

On the positive side:
It looks nice.
It plays the role of a decorative item nicely when it's not trying to reinvent the concept of internet connection.

On the negative side:
Disconnections that appear like jump scares.
The Wi-Fi decides on its own whether to live on 2.4GHz or 5GHz as if it's having an existential crisis.
DHCP renews every now and then as if it's afraid someone will take its IP away.
Windows? Problem. Linux? Problem. So no, it's not "Linux being weird."
VirtualBox has internet while your system tells you the connection is dead — networking quantum mechanics.
Firmware with an update rate that makes you wonder if the project is still maintained or just exists as a memory.

Bonus content:
I even went into hidden LuCI menus, curl, nmap, logs, diagnostic pages, ping tests, and shell commands to find out what's wrong. At some point, I felt like a network engineer in a datacenter and not a person who just wants to watch YouTube in the kitchen.

The funniest part?
Sometimes it works perfectly. So perfectly that you start doubting your sanity and say "ok, it's fixed." After a while, it decides that stability is overrated.

If you like troubleshooting, existential crises, and reading logs at 2 in the morning, it's highly recommended.

If you just want internet... think very seriously about it.

I bought it to boost the signal in a maisonette. It doesn't even reach the next room. Not satisfied at all.

Good for the first few days but occasionally it disconnects and reconnects on its own! We're talking about very few times though! And it is quite large and heavy for the sockets!

A few hours ago I received it and connected it. It connected immediately (via the special Cudy app) and has greatly improved the speed and strength of my signal in all areas of the house. Additionally, I have signal even in part of the neighboring apartment where my parents live, which is close but not "wall-to-wall." Highly recommended!

With optical 300 I used to get 150 via wifi in the room at the other end. With this tool, I got the full speed of the router wirelessly again. You also need the Cudy app to create new passwords, something that is not mentioned in the manual and you end up searching and wondering why it doesn't connect. Other than that, flawless - perfect.

Very VFM Repeater. I use it as a mesh satellite, with the main router (Cudy WR3600H) located on the ground floor. On a 1 Gbps line, connected via Ethernet to the Repeater (Wireless Backhaul), I get ~800-850 Mbps. On Wi-Fi, speeds are around ~500 Mbps, but that's expected.

Very satisfactory range extension. The only negative (hence the -1 star) is that it never worked in mesh mode with the ZTE MCE888 Pro router, but maybe the router is to blame for not being compatible...
