The volume I/15-17 of the New Edition of Liszt contains piano editions of works by Liszt that were originally written for other instruments or for voices. In volume 17, many pieces appear here in printed form for the first time: the Festpolonaise, O Roma nobilis (whose melody can be traced back to a hymn of pilgrims from the seventh or eighth century), San Francesco, Cantico di San Francesco (where the melody In dulci jubilo can be found), and In domum Domini ibimus. An interesting feature of A magyarok istene [God of the Hungarians] is that in addition to the edition for two hands, Liszt also created a transcription for piano using only the left hand.

As for the dates, the pieces are presented in chronological order as much as possible. As is customary, there are two editions of the publication: a blue cloth version and a gray softcover version. The informational preface that provides the most important details about the content and technical specifics is identical in both editions.
