This product uses the PL2303HX chip from a manufacturer in Taiwan, which is fully compatible with Windows XP/VISTA/7/8/8.1 operating systems.
The PL2303HX provides a convenient solution for connecting an asynchronous serial device of the RS232 type to any computer with USB capability. The compatible drivers of the PL2303HX can emulate the traditional COM port on many operating modules, making the transition of COM-based applications to USB easier without requiring application rewrites.
It leverages USB bulk transfer mode, offering larger data elements and automatic flow control, achieving better performance compared to traditional UART ports. When actual RS232 signaling is not required, speeds greater than 115200 bps can be utilized for even better performance. The flexible speed generator of the PL2303HX can be programmed to produce any speed between 75 bps and 6M bps.
The PL2303HX is specifically designed for portable and embedded solutions, offering a small form factor that can easily fit into any type of socket and portable devices. With very low power consumption in operation or standby, it is perfect for bus-powered operation.
It also requires a flexible signal level on the RS232 serial port side, allowing connection to devices 3.3V~1.8V.
