Specifications
Since the first decades of the nineteenth century, archaeologists from the Netherlands have worked in Greece. Scientists such as Carl Vollgraff, Ferdinand de Waele, and Cornells Bakhuizen dedicated a significant part of their careers to the discovery and study of the material remains of ancient Greece.
Today, Dutch archaeologists continue to conduct fieldwork in Greece. This research is part of the work of the Netherlands Institute in Athens, which coordinates all Dutch university exchanges with Greece.
This book provides detailed descriptions of various Dutch archaeological projects. It demonstrates that Dutch archaeologists have made significant contributions to our knowledge of ancient Greece. The collaboration between Dutch and other foreign scientists with Greek archaeologists highlights the universal character of Greek culture.
