Lyrarakis winery is a family winery founded in Crete in 1966. The family is dedicated to the preservation of native, nearly extinct, rare varieties of Crete, such as Dafni, Plyto, Melissaki, and others. The family vineyard is 150 acres and produces 7 single-variety wines from native varieties: Plyto, Dafni, Mandilari, Kotsifali, Vilana, Thrapsathiri, Vidiano. The winery facilities are located in the village of Alagni, in the Heraklion region of Crete, at an altitude of 480 meters.
Kotsifali, a noble yet challenging variety of Crete, shows its best self and potential in careful single-variety vinification.
