Description

Suitable for 3-4 players, aged 10+ with an average game duration of 120 minutes

This expansion replaces many of the contents of the base game, and promises you an impressive and rich gaming experience! It is not a standalone game, so in order to play you need "The Settlers of Catan". It is also compatible with the Settlers of Catan with plastic pieces and not fully compatible with the version that contains wooden pieces.

Experience the Rise of Catan!

The cities flourish and progress – but their wealth attracts the attention of the barbarians. Wild hordes threaten the island. In a short time, a Knight army must be created to repel the mighty barbarians. Woe to the cities that the Knights do not protect! Those who fight the barbarians will earn victory points, but those who do not contribute to the defense will see their cities plundered. You must always find the balance between personal gain and the common good. Will you succeed? Or, paraphrasing the poet, will you cry out: "And now what will we do with the Barbarians?"

A taste of the game!

The Cities & Knights of Catan Expansion brings new strategic elements to the classic Catan game, enhancing the experience with knights, barbarian attacks, and advanced development options. Players can defend their cities, protect their allies, and earn additional victory points, making each game more dynamic and full of strategic choices.

Unfortunately, the expansion falls far short of expectations. The rules are complicated and change the game a lot. In some way, they are not connected to the classic Catan. It's like a completely different board game. The game is very slow and punishing. If you don't buy a knight immediately, which usually can't be done before the first barbarian attack, then you lose your city and after that, you can't recover at all. We stopped the game because otherwise it would have lasted over 4 hours.

Very nice expansion. Even on its own. I wanted it so I could play the dragon expansion. Epic combination of 4 expansions.

The best expansion of Catan. However, it is unfair in the sense that if someone takes the lead at the beginning and happens to get development cards, it is difficult for them to lose the game. If you fall too far behind, there is no turning back and you have to wait about an hour for the game to finish. In general, many new elements and strategies are added to the game and make it more interesting.

Better expansion than the one with the Sailors.
It has different rules, new materials, and you need to play 1-2 times to get used to it.
Simply, the intensity and the conflict in the game are greater due to the development cards it has.

Necessary expansion for an amazing board game, which everyone who plays board games should definitely have. Amazing even for children aged 7-8 and above, I would say.

Overall, we have played it countless times, if the base game gets a 6/10, this definitely gets a 7.5/10 or even 8. If you have a group of people who enjoy strategic thinking, it's worth it (it's a strategy game, not for young children). If the group is not into thinking or gets bored easily, don't bother getting it... opt for something simpler with cards. You also need the base game to play! Also, if you have the expansion for 6 players, you can't combine it because there are extra pieces needed for two more players. (there are specific expansions for 6 players for each different expansion... you need to have money to spend). The game will last 2.30-4 hours, it's very entertaining, it increases the strategic options compared to the classic game, the possibilities of direct conflicts between players, and it's more unpredictable as cities can be demolished and roads can be removed.

I expanded! After this simple Katana, it no longer makes any sense. The expansion turns the game into a long affair, but it increases the intrigue and the possibility of vertical reversals. Excellent in its genre.

Wonderful game! The expansion takes it to another level! It also tests your relationships with your teammates... friendships will be judged with this game, but it's worth it!
It's complex and requires you to think about many things at once, but that's what sets it apart! I recommend it to those who truly enjoy board games

I have it for about 4 months, it's an awesome expansion that makes the game much more interesting with many extra abilities and twists. As for the duration, if all players know it, the time is reduced by about double the normal game. The interest remains throughout the duration for all players!
