    Aidini

    White variety from the Cyclades, often blended with Assyrtiko in Santorini. It adds aromatic complexity with notes of flowers, herbs, and yellow fruits, and a softer texture.

    Athiri

    White Greek variety, mainly from the Aegean islands. It produces wines with moderate acidity, subtle aromas of yellow fruits, flowers, and herbal notes.

    Assyrtiko

    It produces wines with high acidity, intense minerality, and citrus aromas (lemon, grapefruit), often with floral notes. It has excellent aging potential.

  • Dryness

    Dry

    Contains minimal sugars, with intense acidity and full body. Pairs well with meats, pasta, and cheeses.

Description

Micro Thira is the name of the new winery, where three personalities of modern Greek wine come together: Vangelis Gerovassiliou, Vasilis Tsahtsarlis, and Ioanna Vamvakouri. It is the first winery on Therasia, the island that was part of Santorini until the major volcanic eruption in 1600 BC.

The idea started from the uniqueness of the island, with its raw, natural beauty and distinct microclimate, which bears the typical characteristics of Santorini while having its own unique character.

The goal of the three oenologists is to produce quality wines that express and highlight this unique place. The first harvest took place in 2018, and the two initial wines from the estate have already been bottled, belonging to the wines with Protected Designation of Origin Santorini:

  • The “SANTORINI“, a 100% Assyrtiko from grapes grown in Santorini.
  • The “TERRASEA”, a different expression of the same variety, made from grapes sourced exclusively from Therasia.
