Alderac’s That Old Wallpaper is a card-based strategy game in which 2–5 players try to restore a wallpapered wall by matching patterns. Each round, they simultaneously choose a location with wallpaper cards. The only player to choose a location takes its cards, while players who choose the same location each receive a “fuzzy memory” card with a pattern on only one edge.
Regular cards are added immediately to the others, with the goal of joining half-patterns to make complete ones. Patterns come in four colors and two sizes per color, plus one wild pattern. At the end of the game, “fuzzy memory” cards help complete patterns along the edge of the wallpaper. Scoring is calculated separately for each color by multiplying the number of large symbols by the number of small ones; at least one symbol of each size is needed to score points.
