Description

Rethink your data storage

The MG10 series features Toshiba's fourth-generation 10-disk design with helium sealing to promote conventional magnetic recording (CMR) density at 2 TB per disk, achieving a total capacity of up to 20 TB.

The size of just 3.5 inches provides 7200rpm performance and easily integrates into cloud-scale storage infrastructures, business-critical servers and storage, as well as file storage solutions.

The massive 20TB CMR capacity uses Toshiba's innovative Flux Control Microwave Assisted Magnetic Recording (FC-MAMR) technology. These technologies help the MG10 series achieve optimal storage capacity and application compatibility, with unparalleled data reliability.

Huge Capacity

Conventional Magnetic Recording (CMR) capacity up to 20 TB. Available in SATA models with advanced format sector technology 512e or 4Kn.

Enterprise-level reliability

Includes Toshiba Persistent Write Cache technology to protect against data loss in cases of sudden power loss (512e models).

Toshiba's precision laser welding technology

Seals helium inside the 10-disk mechanism to reduce aerodynamic drag and provide a lower operational power profile.

Lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)

Lower operational power profile, providing excellent power efficiency (W/TB) for better TCO.

Purchased for €320. At €15 to €16 per terabyte, it's good. A real test was done. I copied various video files I had in folders with a total size of 861GB from the NVME (SSD) to the Toshiba HDD for long-term storage. It took about 35 minutes, with an average copying speed of 200-250Mb/s. The fluctuation was from 100 minimum up to 460 maximum, as I observed.

It is clearly a remanufactured, white label drive. However, it works just fine, I just wouldn't want to suddenly lose entire media libraries. But at this price....

In my ears, it doesn't make noise. Those who say it is noisy haven't heard EXOS and Gold. In terms of speed, it is a bit slower than the EXOS X18 that I have in sequential read/write, but the difference is not noticeable in everyday use. As for durability over time, we'll see; I've had it for a week, and I will return with a comment in due time. At €17.34/TB for the MG10 20TB, the price is very low for the standards of the Greek market.

    Defective.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, and now it has completely broken down, and it is asking me to format it, resulting in the loss of all my files.

They make noise, but like every enterprise I had, it's reasonable. For 30-40gb+ files, it consistently holds around 110~ mb/s. For transfers of many small files, it has an average speed of about 70~ mb/s. Regarding temperatures, it's just fine.

No problem so far on file server PC. It won't be working many hours, I don't intend to have it 24/7, so with the specifications it has for NAS, I hope and wish that they will hold up well (I bought 2). Its price is very good for what it promises
