The solar LED light tube comes in many variations (length, LED colors). I have the 7-meter version with 50 multicolored LEDs. The bulbs are small, quite bright, and placed inside a transparent PVC tube that provides great protection. They are waterproof for outdoor installation in rainy or snowy conditions. The solar panel is also waterproof, as long as you don't submerge it in water or snow. I tested them in heavy rain for days and they worked perfectly.
Inside the photovoltaic panel, there is a pre-installed rechargeable AA 1.2V battery. Mine had a detachable no-name 600 mAh battery that I replaced with an eneloop 1900 mAh battery, and the difference I saw was huge (it powers the LEDs for up to 12 hours, while the pre-installed one only lasted 6 hours).
On the back of the panel, there are 2 clicky switches: one for on-off and one for the 8 different modes. The included ground spike for mounting is quite convenient and user-friendly.
The panel has a day-night sensor that automatically turns the LEDs on and off, and it works perfectly. The brightness of the LED lights is very good for their price, as they can be seen even from a distance of 45 meters (when placed on a balcony of a multi-story building). The cable doesn't get tangled since it is in a tube, but keep in mind that it is 5 meters long with an LED tube and 2 meters of regular cable that connects to the solar panel.
