Romed Venous Catheters with Valve and Wings 16G

IV venous catheters with a 16G injection valve, sterilized with the following features:

  • Thin walls for high flow rate without dilution of the flow or mechanical irritation.
  • Smooth surface.
  • Special top design for minimal trauma during venipuncture.
  • Special "grip" design for one-handed venipuncture.
  • Flexible wings.
  • Hydrophobic blood stopper.
  • Threaded luer-lock connection for delivery.
  • Removable catheter protection cone.
  • Color-coded sizes.

Indications for Use:

  • Administration of intravenous therapy medications.
  • Administration of intravenous fluids-electrolytes.
  • Administration of parenteral nutrition.
  • Blood transfusion-products.
  • Administration of intravenous agents for diagnostic purposes.

Placement of Venous Catheter:

  • Dorsal surface of the forehand.
  • Forearm.
  • Foot tip.

Nurse Responsibilities:

  • Selecting the appropriate vein.
  • Adhering to principles of asepsis-antisepsis.
  • Maintaining the patency of the venous catheter.
  • Care of the catheter to prevent complications.
  • Handling complications.

Basic Principles:

  • Selecting veins of the upper limb for placement.
  • Selecting catheter size according to needs.
  • Daily assessment of the venous catheter entry site.
  • Removal of the venous catheter in case of phlebitis or infection.
  • Do not replace the catheter more frequently than every 72-96 hours.
