Aiora, which means swing in Greek, was the ancient Greek festival dedicated to the God Dionysus and the celebration of the unveiling of the annual wine. It was part of the three-day festival of Anthesteria, where, on the first day, the villagers ceremonially opened the pithoi (clay jars) containing the year's wine and the first tastings took place.
The white wine Aiora (swing) malagousia amphora is a natural minimalist intervention wine from the Malagousia grape variety (100%), which is a particularly aromatic Greek variety. In this wine, we have followed a natural winemaking method, without the use of machinery, where the wine fermented in the amphora with the grapes for several weeks.
The wine is fermented with natural indigenous yeast from the vine in traditional Cretan amphorae and is bottled unfiltered and without the addition of sulfites after 5 months of maturation in the amphora. It is full of fresh aromas of pear, quince, lemon, lime, white citrus blossoms, and herbal notes such as basil and thyme.
The palate has a medium body, refreshing acidity, and explosive aromatic intensity from quince, lemon, pear, citrus, lime, and grapefruit.
