Description

The social program PLAYMOBIL play & give offers joy and support to thousands of children all over Greece. Every year, part of the proceeds will be allocated to support the purposes of the "ORAMA ELPIDAS" Association. In 2022, PLAYMOBIL play & give presents the code "Alexander the Great".

Alexander, son of King Philip II and Olympias, was born in the mid-4th century BC in Pella. His education was undertaken by Aristotle, while his father taught him politics and strategy. He was only 20 years old when Philip was assassinated and Alexander became the king of Macedonia.

Two years later, he embarked on an incredible campaign against the Persians with a small strategic force but with a brilliant strategy. After successive victories and relentless campaigns deep into Asia, he fell seriously ill and died at the age of just 32 in Babylon in 323 BC.

Throughout his life, he never parted from his black horse, Bucephalus, and the papyri of the Iliad. His achievements will accompany us forever.

When I saw that such a piece came out, I couldn't help but get it, just like I have gotten all the gods of Olympus. Next is definitely Leonidas. Very nice detail as befits Alexander the Great.

I doubt if a five-year-old kid can appreciate the amazing detail and overall exceptional quality that this piece brings. Everything one expects from "Alexander the Great" is present. The character is outstanding with detailed military attire and unique pose, accompanied by a decorated spear, shield bearing the star of Macedonia, and the helmet. The addition of the two columns and, of course, Bucephalus with its characteristic "unyielding" stance are wonderful. An exceptional piece at a reasonable price.

P.S. It was intended for the kid but ended up in dad's collection...
