Sage (Sage), scientifically known as Salvia Officinalis, is a perennial, bushy plant with numerous branches and thick, elongated, fluffy white-green leaves. It is mainly found in dry and rocky areas of the Greek countryside.
The essential oil of Sage is obtained from the distillation of the herb and its flowers, has a sweet, herbaceous aroma, and possesses bactericidal, antifungal, and antiviral properties. Inhaling its scent has a mucolytic and anti-catarrhal effect. It helps reduce hot flashes, night sweats, and headaches.
Additionally, Sage essential oil can relieve muscle pain, lower back pain, neck stiffness, and dysmenorrhea. It is used in face creams to regulate sebum production, as well as in shampoos to improve the natural color of hair.
The essential oil is very potent and in large quantities can cause toxicity. With just 2 drops in 100 ml of water, it can be used for gargling and rinsing. Ingestion is not allowed.
