The Petitgrain essential oil is derived from the Citrus Aurantium Amara plant, known as Bitter Orange, native to China. It is obtained through the steam distillation of the leaves of the plant and has a pale yellow to amber color with a sweet, floral aroma.
The main molecules of its chemotypic composition include esters and alcohols such as linalyl acetate, neroli acetate, linalool, and alpha-terpineol, which have therapeutic value. The essential oil possesses antimicrobial, antibacterial, antiseptic, antispasmodic, and soothing properties. It cleanses and tones the skin, contributing to the treatment of acne and balancing oily or combination skin.
It is suitable for the treatment of hysteria, panic attacks, and depression, as well as for addressing tachycardia, anxiety, and insomnia issues.
