General Dru-Zod, once considered a hero of the planet Krypton, chose to rule his world rather than serve it. After a failed bid for power, he was exiled to the prison dimension known as the Phantom Zone. Soon after, Krypton exploded and years went by, but General Zod remained safe in the Phantom Zone without aging. Over the years, he has repeatedly escaped and used his powers from Krypton to threaten Earth, declaring that his enemy, Superman, will die or kneel before him.
