Before the substantive evaluation of this work, I will provide a critique of the publishing quality of this book:

The book is of medium to small size. It has a soft cover, so it is not bound. However, at least my copy is very well glued. It has a bookmark substitute in the form of an ear. I used it, so I didn't need a cardboard or other type of bookmark. The heavy, high-quality paper of the book is glossy and does not yellow over time.

The aesthetics of the cover and the illustrations by the renowned sketch artist, painter, illustrator, and screenwriter, Pablo Sapia (Buenos Aires 1969), are very modern and tasteful. The illustrations are detailed and well-crafted.

They complement the very direct, quite popular, and beautiful text by the author, historian, and philosopher, Axel Xeriniavski (Buenos Aires, 1980), which includes a dissertation on Philosophy.

I will share the first summary paragraph of the book so you can understand the spirit in which it was written by the author: "ALL PHILOSOPHERS AT SOME POINT REALIZE THAT ALL PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS WERE FORMULATED ONCE IN GREECE."

Here I note that this book is the second in the category of popular philosophy books (or History of Philosophy, if you prefer) that I have finished. The first one is the very voluminous and quite dense work by the author, publisher, TV presenter, and physicist, Demosthenes Liakopoulos, "THE LIGHT OF THE WISE MEN OF GREECE." A book of 608 pages.

"The Philosophy in Ancient Greece" is a work that succinctly and comprehensively analyzes all the important Ancient Greek philosophers. From the pre-Socratics, Parmenides, Heraclitus, Zeno, and others, to the monumental giants of world thought: Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle. However, it does not overlook the important sophists (who greatly influenced the West), such as Gorgias.

It also includes the thinkers of the Hellenistic (post-Alexander the Great) era: Stoics, Cynics (like the famous Diogenes), and Skeptics. And of course, among the company of the great philosophers, the very significant and one of my favorites, the "hedonist" Epicurus, is not absent.

Personally, the ones I liked the most are Epicurus, Parmenides, and Heraclitus. Two pre-Socratic philosophers and one from the Hellenistic era.

In conclusion, the work, "The Philosophy in Ancient Greece," is a relatively small book of 176 pages on the History of Philosophy and knowledge. However, it has been written by a very good and well-trained pen and illustrated by an excellent illustrator (see above). It is a very aesthetically pleasing result that will provide you with a comprehensive and quite good and detailed knowledge of Ancient Greek thought and wisdom. It truly deserves every euro spent on purchasing and studying it. Enjoy your reading!
