The description states 23% larger crepes compared to traditional 30 cm crepe makers.
Where does this percentage come from? From the division (37 - 30) / 30.
Thus, it incorrectly compares the diameter instead of the area of the circle π * r^2, in reality, our math tells us
37 / 2 = 18.5 radius
30 / 2 = 15 radius
18.5 * 18.5 * π / (15 * 15 * π) = 1.52 so 52% larger crepes, not 23%, we are comparing circles, not the diameter.
Is the above number the actual size of the crepe though? No, since 37 centimeters measures from the edges, while it also includes the rim.
In contrast, the 30 cm crepe maker I have from before actually talks about the distance from rim to rim. Is there a general rule for how crepe makers are measured and how? Apparently not.
Anyway, the true math ultimately tells us:
34 / 2 = 17 radius
17 * 17 * π / (15 * 15 * π) = 1.28, so 28% larger crepes, I remind you we are talking about 30 cm crepe makers where the measurement does not include the rim.
I won't take away stars otherwise but I hope the company will be more careful in its description in the future.
