They are used for connecting copper stranded - multi-strand wires of different cross-sections to electrical devices or connections, to combine all the cores of the wire, providing a secure connection when tightening into the sockets and a safe connection at the base of the socket. This increases the stability of the connection against shocks and reduces the likelihood of short circuits. They are made from a copper alloy with a galvanized tin coating.
