General information about patellar chondromalacia

The patellar chondromalacia contributes to the treatment of patellar chondromalacia disease. Chondromalacia patellae, also known as Chondropathy, of the patella is characterized by the softening and cracking of the articular hyaline cartilage of the patella and is a common cause of knee pain in teenagers and young adults.

The symptoms are due to changes in the articular surfaces of the patella and/or the femoral trochlea. It is not always accompanied by pain, and often the degree of these changes does not correspond precisely to the symptoms.

Patellar chondromalacia resulting from:

  • Injuries (trauma from direct impact, fracture, dislocation, or subluxation)
  • Lateral patellar compression syndrome
  • Algodystrophy
  • Primary cartilage degeneration
  • Poor alignment of the patella in the femoral trochlea
  • Patellofemoral dysplasia
  • Weakness and stretching of the quadriceps
  • Knock-knee (genu valgum)
  • Flat feet and hypermobility of the joints
  • Increase in Q angle
  • High-riding patella (patella alta)
  • Operated rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of the knee

Patellar chondromalacia features:

Patella made of Neoprene with an inner cotton lining, including a hole for better mobility of the knee joint and a pad for patellar support. It offers additional help with cartilage changes in the joint.

Patellar chondromalacia indications:

  • Chondromalacia
  • Patellar problems
