The Bitoku board game by Devir is a fantasy game for 1–4 players, themed around forest spirits and their journey towards transcendence. Players strive to become the next great forest spirit, with the help of yōkai, kodamas and pilgrims. The game combines hand management and engine building, offering multiple paths to victory.
Yōkai cards are played in the right places and at the right times to make use of their abilities, while players can acquire additional cards and expand their options. Each player’s three yōkai guardians are represented by dice and can be sent to areas of the main board to gain new abilities, such as building structures and producing resources from soul crystals. Players can also help mitamas, lost souls seeking redemption, using chinkon fireflies, and develop strategies for managing pilgrims, who travel to reflect and meditate.
