About a month ago, I decided to replace my espresso machine, which had a built-in grinder, due to a malfunction. I didn't want another fully automatic and compact machine, but I had grown to love the aroma of freshly ground coffee. After extensive research online, I ended up choosing the Sage Bambino and paired it with the smart pro grinder from the same company. The Bambino has all the great features that the manufacturer promotes.
It has a compact design and fits comfortably under the kitchen cabinets, as the water tank at the back can be lifted with minimal effort. It is user-friendly, and you can adjust the amount of espresso. It produces a nice crema on the coffee. Of course, the overall result depends on the quality of the coffee, the grind size, the filter used, and the entire preparation process. For the milk frothing, I followed the instructions and watched some related videos. The result was perfect! In my opinion, the significant price difference compared to the Bambino Plus (mainly regarding the milk frothing) leads to choosing the Sage Bambino. It is more useful, if the budget allows, to invest in a grinder.
One small "negative" aspect during use is that the espresso cup tends to slide on the tray during extraction. At the same time, due to the distance from the portafilter, it splatters around. However, I found a way to stabilize it higher. Moreover, this distance allows for taller cups. Overall, I am happy with my choice.
Πριν περίπου μήνα αποφάσισα να αντικαταστήσω, λόγω βλάβης, τη μηχανή του εσπρέσσο που είχα, μία αυτόματη Philipps με ενσωματωμένο μύλο. Δεν ήθελα πάλι μια τόσο αυτόματη και compact μηχανή, αλλά είχα αγαπήσει το άρωμα του φρεσκοαλεσμένου καφέ . Μετά από μεγάλη αναζήτηση στο διαδίκτυο κατέληξα στη Sage Bambino και τη συνόδευσα με το μύλο smart pro της ίδιας εταιρείας. Η Bambino έχει όλα τα καλά στοιχεία που προβάλλει ο κατασκευαστής.
Έχει συμπαγή κατασκευή και χωράει άνετα κάτω από τα ντουλάπια της κουζίνας, καθως το δοχείο του νερού στο πίσω μέρος βγαίνει με μικρή ανύψωση. Είναι εύχρηστη, και μπορείς να ρυθμίσεις την ποσότητα του εσπρέσσο. Φτιάχνει ωραία κρέμα στον καφέ. Φυσικά στο συνολικό αποτέλεσμα παίζει κορυφαίο ρόλο ο καφές, το μέγεθος άλεσης, το φίλτρο που θα χρησιμοποιηθεί, όλη η προετοιμασία. Για το αφρογαλα ακολούθησα τις οδηγίες και παρακολούθησα κάποια σχετικά video . Τέλειο αποτέλεσμα !Κατά τη γνώμη μου η μεγάλη διαφορά τιμής σε σχέση με την Bambino plus ( διαφορά κυρίως όσον αφορά στο αφρογαλα ) οδηγεί στην sage Bambino. Είναι πιο χρήσιμο, αν υπάρχουν τα χρήματα, να διατεθούν για την αγορά ενός μύλου.
Μικρό "αρνητικό " στοιχείο στη χρήση είναι ότι κατά την εκχύλιση το φλιτζάνακι του εσπρέσσο γλυστραει στο δίσκο. Ταυτόχρονα λόγω της μεγάλης απόστασης από το πορταφιλτερ πιτσιλαει γύρω γύρω. Αλλά βρίσκω τρόπο και το σταθεροποιώ ψηλότερα. Άλλωστε η απόσταση αυτή δίνει τη δυνατότητα για ψηλότερα ποτήρια. Γενικά είμαι χαρούμενη για την επιλογή μου.
At first everything seemed perfect and that's why I had given it 5 stars. The Bambino was pulling nice, balanced shots and I was excited. I was using the Sage Smart Grinder Pro and always had fresh coffee, usually with a roast date 10 days prior, so I expected decent results. However, after 2 months, problems started...
The shots came out sour and watery and no matter how much I tried with settings, dosing, tamping, etc., the situation did not improve. I invested quite a bit of money to rule out any problem that could be caused by the gear: I got the Eureka Oro Stark grinder, Normcore tamper, distributor and WDT tool, changed the portafilter (the one included in the box is of terrible quality) with a hybrid portafilter and Pesado HE basket.
Note: NEVER use the double basket/pressurised basket. It is NOT intended for freshly ground coffee.
I even had a barista friend with years of experience try it and he confirmed that something was wrong. Eventually, we measured the machine's temperature with a thermal tool and the water was coming out between 60-75°C, when it should be at 90-95°C.
I searched forums and Reddit for home baristas, and found that this problem is known in the Bambino series – that is, it does not have stable temperature and never reaches where it should. I contacted the store via Skroutz and sent it back. There they told me that the supplier himself knows about the issue and that it cannot be fixed because "that's how the machine is designed."
Truly disappointing, especially if you've invested money and time to properly set up a starter home setup. So, if you're thinking of buying it and you're a bit more serious about your espresso – beware. It's not worth it, unless you get it for a simple coffee without many expectations.
Στην αρχή όλα έδειχναν τέλεια και γι'αυτό και είχα βάλει 5 stars. Η Bambino έβγαζε ωραία, ισορροπημένα shots και είχα ενθουσιαστεί. Χρησιμοποιούσα τον Sage Smart Grinder Pro και είχα καφέδες πάντα φρέσκους, συνήθως με roast date 10 μέρες πριν, οπότε περίμενα αξιοπρεπή αποτελέσματα. Όμως, μετά από 2 μήνες άρχισαν τα προβλήματα…
Τα shots έβγαιναν ξινά και νερουλά και όσο κι αν προσπαθούσα με ρυθμίσεις, δοσολογίες, tamping κλπ. δεν βελτιωνόταν η κατάσταση. Επένδυσα αρκετά χρήματα για να αποκλείσω οποιοδήποτε πρόβλημα θα μπορούσε να προκαλούνταν απο τα gear: πήρα τον Eureka Oro Stark grinder, Normcore tamper, distributor και WDT tool, άλλαξα το portafilter (αυτό που περιέχεται στο κουτί είναι τραγικής ποιότητας) με hybrid portafilter και Pesado HE basket.
Σημείωση: ΠΟΤΕ μην χρησιμοποιείται το double basket/pressurised basket. ΔΕΝ προορίζεται για φρέσκο-αλεσμένο καφε.
Έβαλα ακόμα και φίλο barista με χρόνια εμπειρίας να δοκιμάσει και μου επιβεβαίωσε ότι κάτι δεν πάει καλά. Τελικά, μετρήσαμε τη θερμοκρασία της μηχανής με θερμικό εργαλείο και το νερό έβγαινε μεταξύ 60-75°C, όταν θα έπρεπε να είναι στους 90-95°C.
Έψαξα σε forums και reddit για home barista, και βρήκα πως το πρόβλημα αυτό είναι γνωστό στη σειρά Bambino – ότι δηλαδή δεν έχει σταθερή θερμοκρασία και δεν φτάνει ποτέ εκεί που πρέπει. Επικοινώνησα με το κατάστημα μέσω Skroutz και την έστειλα πίσω. Εκεί μου είπαν ότι ο ίδιος ο προμηθευτής γνωρίζει το θέμα και πως δεν διορθώνεται γιατί "έτσι είναι σχεδιασμένη η μηχανή".
Πραγματικά απογοήτευση, ειδικά αν έχεις επενδύσει χρήματα και χρόνο να στήσεις σωστά ένα starter home setup. Οπότε, αν σκέφτεστε να την αγοράσετε και είστε λίγο πιο σοβαροί με τον espresso σας – προσέξτε. Δεν αξίζει, εκτός αν την πάρετε για απλό καφεδάκι χωρίς πολλές απαιτήσεις.
Excellent espresso machine and, in my opinion, one of the best choices in its category. It heats up in just a few seconds, is very easy to use, and consistently produces high-quality espresso with rich crema.
The steam is particularly powerful for its category, allowing for the preparation of very good milk froth for cappuccino and latte. The build quality is high and the machine gives the impression of a much more expensive model.
With a proper grinder and fresh coffee, the results can compete with those of many coffee shops. After quite some time of use, I have not encountered any problems and would buy it again without a second thought. Excellent value for money.
Εξαιρετική μηχανή espresso και, κατά τη γνώμη μου, μία από τις καλύτερες επιλογές στην κατηγορία της. Ζεσταίνεται σε ελάχιστα δευτερόλεπτα, είναι πολύ εύκολη στη χρήση και παράγει σταθερά ποιοτικό espresso με πλούσια κρέμα.

My first freddo coffee turned out much better than the coffees at the top shops I visit. With market coffee Dimello Colombia single origin 100% arabica. I can't imagine what kind of coffee it will make with a precision filter and ground coffee—I'm eagerly waiting for the grinder. It heats up very quickly, in seconds you have coffee. Ο πρώτος μου καφές φρεντάκι βγήκε πολύ καλύτερος από τους καφέδες στα τοπ μαγαζιά που επισκέπτομαι. Με καφέ της αγοράς dimello Colombia single origin 100 arabica. Δεν φαντάζομαι τι καφέ θα κάνει με precision filter και αλεσμένο καφέ περιμένω τον μύλο πως και πως. Ζεστένεται πολύ γρήγορα σε δευτερόλεπτα έχεις καφέ. Στην αρχή μόνο χρειάζεται να ακολουθήσεις τις βασικές οδηγίες με υπομονή αλλά αυτή τη μηχανή την αγάπησα, ελπίζω να μην με προδώσει στο μέλλον. Πειραματιστείτε λίγο στην αρχή με ποσότητα στα 18γρ - ~19γρ για freddo (60ml - 70ml νερό) και στα 9γρ για μονό εσπρεσσο (30ml - 35ml). Σε αυτά τα λεφτά μετά από πολύ έρευνα δεν υπάρχει τίποτα καλύτερο. Για κάτι πιο ακριβό θα πήγαινα σε lelit αλλά από ότι διάβασα πρέπει να έχεις πολύ υπομονή και να πειραματηστείς αρκετά οπότε δεν το σκέφτηκα καν.

The only thing I did was adjust the amount of water for the double shot because it was giving me 40ml of coffee. I set it to give 70ml (there is an online guide on how to change the water amount) and the freddo espresso I make is amazing. I use illy classic ground coffee from the market. Imagine if I get coffee beans!
Το μόνο που έκανα είναι που ρύθμισα την ποσότητα νερού στην διπλή δόση γιατί μου έβγαζε 40ml καφέ.
Το ρύθμισα να βγάζει 70ml (υπάρχει online guide πώς να αλλάξεις την ποσότητα νερού) και ο fredo espresso που κάνω είναι απίστευτος.
Χρησιμοποιώ τον illy classic αλεσμένο από το market.

μετά από 6 μήνες δεν μπορεί να προγραμματιστεί δεν αποθηκεύει την ρύθμιση , ξ θερμοκρασία του καφέ ήταν στους 45 βαθμούς το κεκακι του καφέ έβγαινε πάντα με νερό ,έμπλεξα σε ένα Γολγοθά με το σέρβις άκρη δεν μπόρεσα να βγάλω με το συγκεκριμένο αλλά οφείλω να πω ότι το κατάστημα που την αγόρασα μπήκε μπροστά κ μου την αντικατέστησε δυστυχώς όμως κ η καινούργια τα ίδια προβλήματα .μακριά από την συγκεκριμένη μαρκα ίσως να είναι το μοντέλο προβληματικό..
I think it's the ultimate machine for coffee lovers! A machine that, once you learn to use it, will make it very difficult to get coffee from outside. It is definitely not a machine for everyone. It requires research, time, and passion to enjoy the result. On the positive side, it heats up in seconds. It is quite quiet. If you search a lot, you will realize that the machine has only 2 negatives.
1) Because it heats up very quickly, the boiler does not heat the group at all, resulting in the crema breaking quite a bit.
2) The distance from the bottom of the cup to the coffee flow is quite far, resulting in splashing around. This can be easily solved by placing a "mat" underneath.
For me, the best choice for its price.
Νομίζω πως είναι η απόλυτη μηχανή για τους λάτρεις του καφέ ! Μια μηχανή που αν μάθεις να την χρησιμοποιείς θα δυσκολευτείς πολύ να πάρεις καφέ από έξω. Σίγουρα δεν είναι μια μηχανή για όλους. Θέλει ψάξιμο , χρόνο και μεράκι για να απολαύσεις το αποτέλεσμα. Στα θετικά του ότι ζεσταίνεται σε δευτερόλεπτα. Είναι αρκετά αθόρυβη.
Αν ψάξεις πολυ θα καταλάβεις πως η μηχανή έχει μόνο 2 αρνητικά.
1) επειδή ζεσταίνεται πολύ γρήγορα το boiler δεν ζεσταίνει καθόλου το group ως αποτέλεσμα σπάει αρκετά το καϊμάκι
2) η απόσταση του πάτου της κούπας με την ροή του καφέ είναι αρκετά μακριά και ως αποτέλεσμα πιτσιλαει γύρο γύρο. Λύνεται εύκολα αν τοποθετήσουμε κάποιο «πατάκι» από κάτω.
Για εμένα η καλύτερη επιλογή στα λεφτά της .
I would give it 5 stars but the machine arrived "broken." The steam nozzle didn't work, resulting in us running to Ilion to the official repairman for a fix. The repair was done in 2 hours and the machine is now working fine. -1 star for the inconvenience and the shaken reliability.
However, not to do injustice to a very good machine, I must say that along with the Sage coffee grinder, we have now stopped getting coffee from outside as the taste we enjoy at home is incomparable. Excellent and quality machines are recommended for home use with the only caveat being the malfunction that the coffee maker experienced.
Θα έβαζα 5 αστέρια αλλά η μηχανή ήρθε "χαλασμένη". Το ακροφύσιο ατμού δεν λειτουργούσε με αποτέλεσμα να τρέχουμε στο Ίλιον στον επίσημο επισκευαστή για επισκευή. Η επισκευή έγινε μέσα σε 2 ώρες και η μηχανή λειτουργεί τώρα κανονικά. -1 αστέρι για την ταλαιπωρία και την κλονισμένη αξιοπιστία.
Για να μην αδικήσω όμως μια πολύ καλή μηχανή, να πω ότι μαζί με τον μύλο καφέ της Sage έχουμε πλέον σταματήσει να περνούμε καφέ απ' έξω καθώς δεν έχει καμία σχέση η γεύση που απολαμβάνουμε στο σπίτι. Άψογα και ποιοτικά μηχανήματα προτείνονται για οικιακή χρήση με μόνη επιφύλαξη τη βλάβη που παρουσίασε η καφετιέρα.
Starting the review, I cannot help but mention the excellent build quality. Quality materials and feel, at its price, it has no rival. It heats up immediately, the noise is at satisfactory levels, the water tank is large, and the tray is stable. The upper surface does get warm, but with a 3" machine startup time, I don't think you'll ever use it. It's easier to warm your cup with hot water from the tap or the steam wand (which is the right length and does a decent job with frothing milk). Having had it for about 2 years, from day one I never used the double wall (pressurized) basket, as I already had a grinder (Sage Smart Grinder Pro), so I can't comment on pre-ground supermarket coffee. Before purchasing the bottomless portafilter you see in the photos, the factory one was used, from which the plastic insert was immediately removed. This alone is enough to see a chaotic difference in extraction, as there are many reports of a "sour" result in specialty espresso with the Bambino (and I confirm this), even though theoretically it is set steadily at 93⁰C. Of course, as with all espresso machines, to achieve a proper result, it all starts with the right coffee, meaning quality and fresh beans, freshly ground. The flavor profile is up to personal preference, but truly the Bambino can deliver excellent results with most specialty coffees, let alone commercial ones. Overall, we are talking about a serious device that can satisfy all tastes, from someone who simply wants to drink a coffee at the push of a button (almost), to someone like me who experiments with specialty coffees, aromas, and flavors. The instructions that accompany it are very detailed and leave no room for doubt. The packaging contains everything needed, all the baskets, water filter, tamper, and even a milk jug for frothing milk. Highly recommended.
Ξεκινώντας την κριτική, δεν μπορώ παρά να αναφέρω την εξαιρετική ποιότητα κατασκευής. Ποιοτικά υλικά και αίσθηση, στην τιμή της δεν έχει αντίπαλο.
Ζεσταίνεται άμεσα, ο θόρυβος είναι σε ικανοποιητικά επίπεδα, το δοχείο του νερού είναι μεγάλο, και το tray σταθερό. Η άνω επιφάνεια ζεσταίνεται μεν, αλλά με 3" χρόνο εκκίνησης της μηχανής, δε νομίζω να την χρησιμοποιήσετε ποτέ. Πιο εύκολο είναι να ζεστάνετε το φλιτζάνι σας με καυτό νερό από την παροχή της ή το ακροφύσιο ατμού (το οποίο είναι στο σωστό μήκος και κάνει αξιοπρεπέστατη δουλειά στο αφρόγαλα).
Έχοντάς την στην κατοχή μου εδώ και περίπου 2 χρόνια, από την πρώτη μέρα δεν χρησιμοποίησα ποτέ το double wall (pressurised) καλαθάκι, καθώς είχα ήδη μύλο (Sage Smart Grinder Pro), οπότε δεν μπορώ να εκφέρω γνώμη για προ-αλεσμένο καφέ τύπου σούπερ μάρκετ.
Πριν αγοραστεί το bottomless portafilter που βλέπετε στις φωτογραφίες, χρησιμοποιήθηκε το εργοστασιακό, στο οποίο άμεσα αφαιρέθηκε το πλαστικό insert. Αυτό και μόνο αρκεί για να δείτε χαοτική διαφορά στην εκχύλιση, καθώς υπάρχουν πολλές αναφορές για "ξινό" αποτέλεσμα σε specialty espresso με την Bambino (και το επιβεβαιώνω), παρόλο που θεωρητικά είναι ρυθμισμένη σταθερά στους 93⁰C.
Φυσικά, όπως σε όλες τις μηχανές espresso, για να πάρει κάποιος σωστό αποτέλεσμα, όλα ξεκινούν από τον σωστό καφέ, δηλαδή ποιοτικός και φρέσκος κόκκος, φρεσκοαλεσμένος. Το γευστικό προφίλ είναι στην προτίμηση του καθενός, όμως πραγματικά η Bambino μπορεί να αποδώσει εξαιρετικό αποτέλεσμα στους περισσότερους specialty καφέδες, πόσο μάλλον στους commercial.
Συνολικά μιλάμε για μία σοβαρή συσκευή που μπορεί να ικανοποιήσει όλα τα γούστα, από κάποιον που απλά θέλει να πιεί έναν καφέ με το πάτημα ενός κουμπιού (σχεδόν), μέχρι κάποιον σαν εμένα που πειραματίζεται με specialty καφέδες, αρώματα και γεύσεις.
Οι οδηγίες που την συνοδεύουν είναι αναλυτικότατες και δεν αφήνουν περιθώρια αποριών. Η συσκευασία περιέχει όσα χρειάζονται, όλα τα καλαθάκια, φίλτρο νερού, πατητήρι, μέχρι και γαλατιέρα για αφρόγαλα.
Προτείνεται ανεπιφύλακτα.

μετά από 6 μήνες δεν μπορεί να προγραμματιστεί δεν αποθηκεύει την ρύθμιση , ξ θερμοκρασία του καφέ ήταν στους 45 βαθμούς το κεκακι του καφέ έβγαινε πάντα με νερό ,έμπλεξα σε ένα Γολγοθά με το σέρβις άκρη δεν μπόρεσα να βγάλω με το συγκεκριμένο αλλά οφείλω να πω ότι το κατάστημα που την αγόρασα μπήκε μπροστά κ μου την αντικατέστησε δυστυχώς όμως κ η καινούργια τα ίδια προβλήματα .μακριά από την συγκεκριμένη μαρκα ίσως να είναι το μοντέλο προβληματικό..

I am completely satisfied with this purchase. I bought it for 235, which I think was a very good price. I have tried ground coffee and it makes a very good espresso, even though the coffee brand is not great. I will update with Lavazza d'oro, which I have tried in ground form and liked more. Update 6/11/2023: I tried Dark roast Buondi... With the accessories, that is. It is quite good for those who prefer a chocolatey and buttery taste, full-bodied due to the dark roast. Always using the pressurized basket. I also got a grinder and coffee from a local coffee shop. I have the bottomless portafilter and will continue experimenting. I will come back with a new update review.
Update 30/1/2024: Along with the Kingrinder k6 grinder and the bottomless portafilter, there is a tremendous difference. The type of bean plays a major role, but the grind and taste are much better than pre-ground. With Gargari Ethiopian and Colombia la Cambana, you reach another level of flavor. I recommend choosing a small roaster rather than commercial coffee for variety

Update 6/11/2023 δοκίμασα Dark roast Buondi...Με τα περιφερειακά ζυγαριά δλδ.Αρκετά καλός για όσους προτιμούν σοκολατένια γεύση και βουτηρατη,γεμάτο σώμα -λόγω φυσικά του dark roast -πάντα με το pressurized basket , ήρθε ο μύλος πήρα και καφέ από καφεκοπτειο έχω και το bottomless portafilter και θα συνεχίσω πειραματισμούς ... Θα επανέλθω με νέο update review
Update 30/1/2024 Παρεα με μυλο Kingrinder k6 και το bottomless portafilter υπαρχει τρομερη διαφορα ... Τον μεγαλυτερο ρολοπατως παιζει κοκκος αλλα το καιμακι και η γευση ειναι πολυ καλυτερη απο το ηδη κομμενο... Gargari Ethiopian και Colombia la Cambana και πας σε αλλο επιπεδο γευσης... Προτιμιστε καποιο roaster μικρο και οχι καφεδες του εμποριου για διαφορα

Regarding the coffee, which is the essence. With research and experiments, depending on the grind of the coffee and the setting you want for the extraction quantity, you will drink better coffee than delivery and many coffee shops.
Currently, I am using illy pre-ground coffee from Sklavenitis and compared to the previous Izzy coffee maker for 75 euros, there is no extreme difference in quality.
Next, I will buy a grinder and try it with my own experiments. For now, the only thing I changed was to have a longer extraction time.
I recommend it if you can find it for up to 250 euros.

Στα του καφέ που είναι και η ουσία. Με ψάξιμο και πειράματα ανάλογα το κόψιμο του καφέ και τη ρύθμιση που εσύ θες για τη ποσότητα εκχύλισης, θα πιείς καφέ καλύτερο απο delivery και αρκετές καφετέριες.
Αυτή τη στιγμή χρησιμοποιώ illy αλεσμένος έτοιμος απο σκλαβενίτη και σε σχέση με την προηγούμενο καφετέρια Izzy 75 euro , καμία σχέση ακραία ποιότητα και διαφορά.
Στη συνέχεια θα αγοράσω μύλο και θα δοκιμαστεί με δικά μου πειράματα. Προς το παρόν το μόνο που πείραξα ήταν να έχει περισσότερη ώρα εκχύλιση.

I really like this specific espresso machine. My only "complaints" are that it needs a better portafilter than the one provided, as it is somewhat light and the filter basket comes off (also, you can't see how good the extraction is). Additionally, the base under the cup holder is slippery. I would appreciate it if it had some non-slip material so that the cup/glass doesn't slide.

My first freddo coffee turned out much better than the coffees at the top shops I visit. With market coffee Dimello Colombia single origin 100% arabica. I can't imagine what kind of coffee it will make with a precision filter and ground coffee—I'm eagerly waiting for the grinder. It heats up very quickly, in seconds you have coffee. Ο πρώτος μου καφές φρεντάκι βγήκε πολύ καλύτερος από τους καφέδες στα τοπ μαγαζιά που επισκέπτομαι. Με καφέ της αγοράς dimello Colombia single origin 100 arabica. Δεν φαντάζομαι τι καφέ θα κάνει με precision filter και αλεσμένο καφέ περιμένω τον μύλο πως και πως. Ζεστένεται πολύ γρήγορα σε δευτερόλεπτα έχεις καφέ. Στην αρχή μόνο χρειάζεται να ακολουθήσεις τις βασικές οδηγίες με υπομονή αλλά αυτή τη μηχανή την αγάπησα, ελπίζω να μην με προδώσει στο μέλλον. Πειραματιστείτε λίγο στην αρχή με ποσότητα στα 18γρ - ~19γρ για freddo (60ml - 70ml νερό) και στα 9γρ για μονό εσπρεσσο (30ml - 35ml). Σε αυτά τα λεφτά μετά από πολύ έρευνα δεν υπάρχει τίποτα καλύτερο. Για κάτι πιο ακριβό θα πήγαινα σε lelit αλλά από ότι διάβασα πρέπει να έχεις πολύ υπομονή και να πειραματηστείς αρκετά οπότε δεν το σκέφτηκα καν.

The only thing I did was adjust the amount of water for the double shot because it was giving me 40ml of coffee. I set it to give 70ml (there is an online guide on how to change the water amount) and the freddo espresso I make is amazing. I use illy classic ground coffee from the market. Imagine if I get coffee beans!

About a month ago, I decided to replace my espresso machine, which had a built-in grinder, due to a malfunction. I didn't want another fully automatic and compact machine, but I had grown to love the aroma of freshly ground coffee. After extensive research online, I ended up choosing the Sage Bambino and paired it with the smart pro grinder from the same company. The Bambino has all the great features that the manufacturer promotes.
It has a compact design and fits comfortably under the kitchen cabinets, as the water tank at the back can be lifted with minimal effort. It is user-friendly, and you can adjust the amount of espresso. It produces a nice crema on the coffee. Of course, the overall result depends on the quality of the coffee, the grind size, the filter used, and the entire preparation process. For the milk frothing, I followed the instructions and watched some related videos. The result was perfect! In my opinion, the significant price difference compared to the Bambino Plus (mainly regarding the milk frothing) leads to choosing the Sage Bambino. It is more useful, if the budget allows, to invest in a grinder.
One small "negative" aspect during use is that the espresso cup tends to slide on the tray during extraction. At the same time, due to the distance from the portafilter, it splatters around. However, I found a way to stabilize it higher. Moreover, this distance allows for taller cups. Overall, I am happy with my choice.
Πριν περίπου μήνα αποφάσισα να αντικαταστήσω, λόγω βλάβης, τη μηχανή του εσπρέσσο που είχα, μία αυτόματη Philipps με ενσωματωμένο μύλο. Δεν ήθελα πάλι μια τόσο αυτόματη και compact μηχανή, αλλά είχα αγαπήσει το άρωμα του φρεσκοαλεσμένου καφέ . Μετά από μεγάλη αναζήτηση στο διαδίκτυο κατέληξα στη Sage Bambino και τη συνόδευσα με το μύλο smart pro της ίδιας εταιρείας. Η Bambino έχει όλα τα καλά στοιχεία που προβάλλει ο κατασκευαστής.

Για το αφρογαλα ακολούθησα τις οδηγίες και παρακολούθησα κάποια σχετικά video . Τέλειο αποτέλεσμα !Κατά τη γνώμη μου η μεγάλη διαφορά τιμής σε σχέση με την Bambino plus ( διαφορά κυρίως όσον αφορά στο αφρογαλα ) οδηγεί στην sage Bambino. Είναι πιο χρήσιμο, αν υπάρχουν τα χρήματα, να διατεθούν για την αγορά ενός μύλου.
Μικρό "αρνητικό " στοιχείο στη χρήση είναι ότι κατά την εκχύλιση το φλιτζάνακι του εσπρέσσο γλυστραει στο δίσκο. Ταυτόχρονα λόγω της μεγάλης απόστασης από το πορταφιλτερ πιτσιλαει γύρω γύρω. Αλλά βρίσκω τρόπο και το σταθεροποιώ ψηλότερα. Άλλωστε η απόσταση αυτή δίνει τη δυνατότητα για ψηλότερα ποτήρια. Γενικά είμαι χαρούμενη για την επιλογή μου.
At first everything seemed perfect and that's why I had given it 5 stars. The Bambino was pulling nice, balanced shots and I was excited. I was using the Sage Smart Grinder Pro and always had fresh coffee, usually with a roast date 10 days prior, so I expected decent results. However, after 2 months, problems started...
The shots came out sour and watery and no matter how much I tried with settings, dosing, tamping, etc., the situation did not improve. I invested quite a bit of money to rule out any problem that could be caused by the gear: I got the Eureka Oro Stark grinder, Normcore tamper, distributor and WDT tool, changed the portafilter (the one included in the box is of terrible quality) with a hybrid portafilter and Pesado HE basket.
Note: NEVER use the double basket/pressurised basket. It is NOT intended for freshly ground coffee.
I even had a barista friend with years of experience try it and he confirmed that something was wrong. Eventually, we measured the machine's temperature with a thermal tool and the water was coming out between 60-75°C, when it should be at 90-95°C.
I searched forums and Reddit for home baristas, and found that this problem is known in the Bambino series – that is, it does not have stable temperature and never reaches where it should. I contacted the store via Skroutz and sent it back. There they told me that the supplier himself knows about the issue and that it cannot be fixed because "that's how the machine is designed."
Truly disappointing, especially if you've invested money and time to properly set up a starter home setup. So, if you're thinking of buying it and you're a bit more serious about your espresso – beware. It's not worth it, unless you get it for a simple coffee without many expectations.

Επένδυσα αρκετά χρήματα για να αποκλείσω οποιοδήποτε πρόβλημα θα μπορούσε να προκαλούνταν απο τα gear: πήρα τον Eureka Oro Stark grinder, Normcore tamper, distributor και WDT tool, άλλαξα το portafilter (αυτό που περιέχεται στο κουτί είναι τραγικής ποιότητας) με hybrid portafilter και Pesado HE basket.
Σημείωση: ΠΟΤΕ μην χρησιμοποιείται το double basket/pressurised basket. ΔΕΝ προορίζεται για φρέσκο-αλεσμένο καφε.
Έβαλα ακόμα και φίλο barista με χρόνια εμπειρίας να δοκιμάσει και μου επιβεβαίωσε ότι κάτι δεν πάει καλά. Τελικά, μετρήσαμε τη θερμοκρασία της μηχανής με θερμικό εργαλείο και το νερό έβγαινε μεταξύ 60-75°C, όταν θα έπρεπε να είναι στους 90-95°C.
Έψαξα σε forums και reddit για home barista, και βρήκα πως το πρόβλημα αυτό είναι γνωστό στη σειρά Bambino – ότι δηλαδή δεν έχει σταθερή θερμοκρασία και δεν φτάνει ποτέ εκεί που πρέπει. Επικοινώνησα με το κατάστημα μέσω Skroutz και την έστειλα πίσω. Εκεί μου είπαν ότι ο ίδιος ο προμηθευτής γνωρίζει το θέμα και πως δεν διορθώνεται γιατί "έτσι είναι σχεδιασμένη η μηχανή".
Πραγματικά απογοήτευση, ειδικά αν έχεις επενδύσει χρήματα και χρόνο να στήσεις σωστά ένα starter home setup. Οπότε, αν σκέφτεστε να την αγοράσετε και είστε λίγο πιο σοβαροί με τον espresso σας – προσέξτε. Δεν αξίζει, εκτός αν την πάρετε για απλό καφεδάκι χωρίς πολλές απαιτήσεις.

My first freddo coffee turned out much better than the coffees at the top shops I visit. With market coffee Dimello Colombia single origin 100% arabica. I can't imagine what kind of coffee it will make with a precision filter and ground coffee—I'm eagerly waiting for the grinder. It heats up very quickly, in seconds you have coffee. Ο πρώτος μου καφές φρεντάκι βγήκε πολύ καλύτερος από τους καφέδες στα τοπ μαγαζιά που επισκέπτομαι. Με καφέ της αγοράς dimello Colombia single origin 100 arabica. Δεν φαντάζομαι τι καφέ θα κάνει με precision filter και αλεσμένο καφέ περιμένω τον μύλο πως και πως. Ζεστένεται πολύ γρήγορα σε δευτερόλεπτα έχεις καφέ. Στην αρχή μόνο χρειάζεται να ακολουθήσεις τις βασικές οδηγίες με υπομονή αλλά αυτή τη μηχανή την αγάπησα, ελπίζω να μην με προδώσει στο μέλλον. Πειραματιστείτε λίγο στην αρχή με ποσότητα στα 18γρ - ~19γρ για freddo (60ml - 70ml νερό) και στα 9γρ για μονό εσπρεσσο (30ml - 35ml). Σε αυτά τα λεφτά μετά από πολύ έρευνα δεν υπάρχει τίποτα καλύτερο. Για κάτι πιο ακριβό θα πήγαινα σε lelit αλλά από ότι διάβασα πρέπει να έχεις πολύ υπομονή και να πειραματηστείς αρκετά οπότε δεν το σκέφτηκα καν.

The only thing I did was adjust the amount of water for the double shot because it was giving me 40ml of coffee. I set it to give 70ml (there is an online guide on how to change the water amount) and the freddo espresso I make is amazing. I use illy classic ground coffee from the market. Imagine if I get coffee beans!
Το μόνο που έκανα είναι που ρύθμισα την ποσότητα νερού στην διπλή δόση γιατί μου έβγαζε 40ml καφέ.
Το ρύθμισα να βγάζει 70ml (υπάρχει online guide πώς να αλλάξεις την ποσότητα νερού) και ο fredo espresso που κάνω είναι απίστευτος.

I think it's the ultimate machine for coffee lovers! A machine that, once you learn to use it, will make it very difficult to get coffee from outside. It is definitely not a machine for everyone. It requires research, time, and passion to enjoy the result. On the positive side, it heats up in seconds. It is quite quiet. If you search a lot, you will realize that the machine has only 2 negatives.
1) Because it heats up very quickly, the boiler does not heat the group at all, resulting in the crema breaking quite a bit.
2) The distance from the bottom of the cup to the coffee flow is quite far, resulting in splashing around. This can be easily solved by placing a "mat" underneath.
For me, the best choice for its price.
Νομίζω πως είναι η απόλυτη μηχανή για τους λάτρεις του καφέ ! Μια μηχανή που αν μάθεις να την χρησιμοποιείς θα δυσκολευτείς πολύ να πάρεις καφέ από έξω. Σίγουρα δεν είναι μια μηχανή για όλους. Θέλει ψάξιμο , χρόνο και μεράκι για να απολαύσεις το αποτέλεσμα. Στα θετικά του ότι ζεσταίνεται σε δευτερόλεπτα. Είναι αρκετά αθόρυβη.
Αν ψάξεις πολυ θα καταλάβεις πως η μηχανή έχει μόνο 2 αρνητικά.
1) επειδή ζεσταίνεται πολύ γρήγορα το boiler δεν ζεσταίνει καθόλου το group ως αποτέλεσμα σπάει αρκετά το καϊμάκι
2) η απόσταση του πάτου της κούπας με την ροή του καφέ είναι αρκετά μακριά και ως αποτέλεσμα πιτσιλαει γύρο γύρο. Λύνεται εύκολα αν τοποθετήσουμε κάποιο «πατάκι» από κάτω.
Για εμένα η καλύτερη επιλογή στα λεφτά της .
I would give it 5 stars but the machine arrived "broken." The steam nozzle didn't work, resulting in us running to Ilion to the official repairman for a fix. The repair was done in 2 hours and the machine is now working fine. -1 star for the inconvenience and the shaken reliability.
However, not to do injustice to a very good machine, I must say that along with the Sage coffee grinder, we have now stopped getting coffee from outside as the taste we enjoy at home is incomparable. Excellent and quality machines are recommended for home use with the only caveat being the malfunction that the coffee maker experienced.
Θα έβαζα 5 αστέρια αλλά η μηχανή ήρθε "χαλασμένη". Το ακροφύσιο ατμού δεν λειτουργούσε με αποτέλεσμα να τρέχουμε στο Ίλιον στον επίσημο επισκευαστή για επισκευή. Η επισκευή έγινε μέσα σε 2 ώρες και η μηχανή λειτουργεί τώρα κανονικά. -1 αστέρι για την ταλαιπωρία και την κλονισμένη αξιοπιστία.
Για να μην αδικήσω όμως μια πολύ καλή μηχανή, να πω ότι μαζί με τον μύλο καφέ της Sage έχουμε πλέον σταματήσει να περνούμε καφέ απ' έξω καθώς δεν έχει καμία σχέση η γεύση που απολαμβάνουμε στο σπίτι. Άψογα και ποιοτικά μηχανήματα προτείνονται για οικιακή χρήση με μόνη επιφύλαξη τη βλάβη που παρουσίασε η καφετιέρα.
Starting the review, I cannot help but mention the excellent build quality. Quality materials and feel, at its price, it has no rival. It heats up immediately, the noise is at satisfactory levels, the water tank is large, and the tray is stable. The upper surface does get warm, but with a 3" machine startup time, I don't think you'll ever use it. It's easier to warm your cup with hot water from the tap or the steam wand (which is the right length and does a decent job with frothing milk). Having had it for about 2 years, from day one I never used the double wall (pressurized) basket, as I already had a grinder (Sage Smart Grinder Pro), so I can't comment on pre-ground supermarket coffee. Before purchasing the bottomless portafilter you see in the photos, the factory one was used, from which the plastic insert was immediately removed. This alone is enough to see a chaotic difference in extraction, as there are many reports of a "sour" result in specialty espresso with the Bambino (and I confirm this), even though theoretically it is set steadily at 93⁰C. Of course, as with all espresso machines, to achieve a proper result, it all starts with the right coffee, meaning quality and fresh beans, freshly ground. The flavor profile is up to personal preference, but truly the Bambino can deliver excellent results with most specialty coffees, let alone commercial ones. Overall, we are talking about a serious device that can satisfy all tastes, from someone who simply wants to drink a coffee at the push of a button (almost), to someone like me who experiments with specialty coffees, aromas, and flavors. The instructions that accompany it are very detailed and leave no room for doubt. The packaging contains everything needed, all the baskets, water filter, tamper, and even a milk jug for frothing milk. Highly recommended.
Ξεκινώντας την κριτική, δεν μπορώ παρά να αναφέρω την εξαιρετική ποιότητα κατασκευής. Ποιοτικά υλικά και αίσθηση, στην τιμή της δεν έχει αντίπαλο.
Ζεσταίνεται άμεσα, ο θόρυβος είναι σε ικανοποιητικά επίπεδα, το δοχείο του νερού είναι μεγάλο, και το tray σταθερό. Η άνω επιφάνεια ζεσταίνεται μεν, αλλά με 3" χρόνο εκκίνησης της μηχανής, δε νομίζω να την χρησιμοποιήσετε ποτέ. Πιο εύκολο είναι να ζεστάνετε το φλιτζάνι σας με καυτό νερό από την παροχή της ή το ακροφύσιο ατμού (το οποίο είναι στο σωστό μήκος και κάνει αξιοπρεπέστατη δουλειά στο αφρόγαλα).
Έχοντάς την στην κατοχή μου εδώ και περίπου 2 χρόνια, από την πρώτη μέρα δεν χρησιμοποίησα ποτέ το double wall (pressurised) καλαθάκι, καθώς είχα ήδη μύλο (Sage Smart Grinder Pro), οπότε δεν μπορώ να εκφέρω γνώμη για προ-αλεσμένο καφέ τύπου σούπερ μάρκετ.
Πριν αγοραστεί το bottomless portafilter που βλέπετε στις φωτογραφίες, χρησιμοποιήθηκε το εργοστασιακό, στο οποίο άμεσα αφαιρέθηκε το πλαστικό insert. Αυτό και μόνο αρκεί για να δείτε χαοτική διαφορά στην εκχύλιση, καθώς υπάρχουν πολλές αναφορές για "ξινό" αποτέλεσμα σε specialty espresso με την Bambino (και το επιβεβαιώνω), παρόλο που θεωρητικά είναι ρυθμισμένη σταθερά στους 93⁰C.
Φυσικά, όπως σε όλες τις μηχανές espresso, για να πάρει κάποιος σωστό αποτέλεσμα, όλα ξεκινούν από τον σωστό καφέ, δηλαδή ποιοτικός και φρέσκος κόκκος, φρεσκοαλεσμένος. Το γευστικό προφίλ είναι στην προτίμηση του καθενός, όμως πραγματικά η Bambino μπορεί να αποδώσει εξαιρετικό αποτέλεσμα στους περισσότερους specialty καφέδες, πόσο μάλλον στους commercial.
Συνολικά μιλάμε για μία σοβαρή συσκευή που μπορεί να ικανοποιήσει όλα τα γούστα, από κάποιον που απλά θέλει να πιεί έναν καφέ με το πάτημα ενός κουμπιού (σχεδόν), μέχρι κάποιον σαν εμένα που πειραματίζεται με specialty καφέδες, αρώματα και γεύσεις.
Οι οδηγίες που την συνοδεύουν είναι αναλυτικότατες και δεν αφήνουν περιθώρια αποριών. Η συσκευασία περιέχει όσα χρειάζονται, όλα τα καλαθάκια, φίλτρο νερού, πατητήρι, μέχρι και γαλατιέρα για αφρόγαλα.

I am completely satisfied with this purchase. I bought it for 235, which I think was a very good price. I have tried ground coffee and it makes a very good espresso, even though the coffee brand is not great. I will update with Lavazza d'oro, which I have tried in ground form and liked more. When I buy a grinder, then I will have a complete opinion. I am also waiting for various accessories like scales, etc. to make better use of the machine. However, even for a regular user, it makes a good coffee, even with pre-ground beans.
Update 6/11/2023: I tried Dark roast Buondi... With the accessories, that is. It is quite good for those who prefer a chocolatey and buttery taste, full-bodied due to the dark roast. Always using the pressurized basket. I also got a grinder and coffee from a local coffee shop. I have the bottomless portafilter and will continue experimenting. I will come back with a new update review.
Update 30/1/2024: Along with the Kingrinder k6 grinder and the bottomless portafilter, there is a tremendous difference. The type of bean plays a major role, but the grind and taste are much better than pre-ground. With Gargari Ethiopian and Colombia la Cambana, you reach another level of flavor. I recommend choosing a small roaster rather than commercial coffee for variety
Είμαι απόλυτα ικανοποιημένος την αγόρασα στα 235 , νομίζω ήταν σε πολύ καλή τιμή, έχω δοκιμάσει αλεσμένο καφέ κάνει πολύ καλό εσπρέσσο αν και μάπα μάρκα καφέ ,θα κάνω update με lavazza d'oro που τον έχω δοκιμάσει σε αλεσμένο και μου άρεσε περισσότερο... όταν θα αγοράσω και μύλο τότε θα έχω μια ολοκληρωμένη άποψη ... περιμένω και διάφορα περιφερειακά ζυγαριά κτλ να κάνω καλύτερη χρήση της μηχανής ... πάντως για έναν απλό χρήστη ακόμη και κομμένο καφέ τον κάνει αρκετά καλό
Update 6/11/2023 δοκίμασα Dark roast Buondi...Με τα περιφερειακά ζυγαριά δλδ.Αρκετά καλός για όσους προτιμούν σοκολατένια γεύση και βουτηρατη,γεμάτο σώμα -λόγω φυσικά του dark roast -πάντα με το pressurized basket , ήρθε ο μύλος πήρα και καφέ από καφεκοπτειο έχω και το bottomless portafilter και θα συνεχίσω πειραματισμούς ... Update 30/1/2024 Παρεα με μυλο Kingrinder k6 και το bottomless portafilter υπαρχει τρομερη διαφορα ... Τον μεγαλυτερο ρολοπατως παιζει κοκκος αλλα το καιμακι και η γευση ειναι πολυ καλυτερη απο το ηδη κομμενο... Gargari Ethiopian και Colombia la Cambana και πας σε αλλο επιπεδο γευσης... Προτιμιστε καποιο roaster μικρο και οχι καφεδες του εμποριου για διαφορα

Regarding the coffee, which is the essence. With research and experiments, depending on the grind of the coffee and the setting you want for the extraction quantity, you will drink better coffee than delivery and many coffee shops.
Currently, I am using illy pre-ground coffee from Sklavenitis and compared to the previous Izzy coffee maker for 75 euros, there is no extreme difference in quality.
Next, I will buy a grinder and try it with my own experiments. For now, the only thing I changed was to have a longer extraction time.
I recommend it if you can find it for up to 250 euros.

Στα του καφέ που είναι και η ουσία. Με ψάξιμο και πειράματα ανάλογα το κόψιμο του καφέ και τη ρύθμιση που εσύ θες για τη ποσότητα εκχύλισης, θα πιείς καφέ καλύτερο απο delivery και αρκετές καφετέριες.
Αυτή τη στιγμή χρησιμοποιώ illy αλεσμένος έτοιμος απο σκλαβενίτη και σε σχέση με την προηγούμενο καφετέρια Izzy 75 euro , καμία σχέση ακραία ποιότητα και διαφορά.
Στη συνέχεια θα αγοράσω μύλο και θα δοκιμαστεί με δικά μου πειράματα. Προς το παρόν το μόνο που πείραξα ήταν να έχει περισσότερη ώρα εκχύλιση.
Τη συνιστώ αν τη βρείτε μέχρι 250 ε.

My only "complaints" are that it needs a better portafilter than the one provided, as it is somewhat light and the filter basket comes off (also, you can't see how good the extraction is). Additionally, the base under the cup holder is slippery. I would appreciate it if it had some non-slip material so that the cup/glass doesn't slide.

I can't imagine what kind of coffee it will make with a precision filter and ground coffee—I'm eagerly waiting for the grinder. It heats up very quickly, in seconds you have coffee. At first, you just need to follow the basic instructions patiently, but I loved this machine, I hope it doesn't let me down in the future. Experiment a bit at first with the amount, at 18g - ~19g for freddo (60ml - 70ml water) and 9g for a single espresso (30ml - 35ml). At this price, after a lot of research, there is nothing better. For something more expensive I would go for Lelit, but from what I read you need to have a lot of patience and experiment quite a bit, so I didn't even consider it
Ο πρώτος μου καφές φρεντάκι βγήκε πολύ καλύτερος από τους καφέδες στα τοπ μαγαζιά που επισκέπτομαι. Με καφέ της αγοράς dimello Colombia single origin 100 arabica. Δεν φαντάζομαι τι καφέ θα κάνει με precision filter και αλεσμένο καφέ περιμένω τον μύλο πως και πως. Ζεστένεται πολύ γρήγορα σε δευτερόλεπτα έχεις καφέ. Στην αρχή μόνο χρειάζεται να ακολουθήσεις τις βασικές οδηγίες με υπομονή αλλά αυτή τη μηχανή την αγάπησα, ελπίζω να μην με προδώσει στο μέλλον. Πειραματιστείτε λίγο στην αρχή με ποσότητα στα 18γρ - ~19γρ για freddo (60ml - 70ml νερό) και στα 9γρ για μονό εσπρεσσο (30ml - 35ml). Σε αυτά τα λεφτά μετά από πολύ έρευνα δεν υπάρχει τίποτα καλύτερο. Για κάτι πιο ακριβό θα πήγαινα σε lelit αλλά από ότι διάβασα πρέπει να έχεις πολύ υπομονή και να πειραματηστείς αρκετά οπότε δεν το σκέφτηκα καν.

The only thing I did was adjust the amount of water for the double shot because it was giving me 40ml of coffee. I set it to give 70ml (there is an online guide on how to change the water amount) and the freddo espresso I make is amazing. I use illy classic ground coffee from the market. Imagine if I get coffee beans!
Το μόνο που έκανα είναι που ρύθμισα την ποσότητα νερού στην διπλή δόση γιατί μου έβγαζε 40ml καφέ.
Το ρύθμισα να βγάζει 70ml (υπάρχει online guide πώς να αλλάξεις την ποσότητα νερού) και ο fredo espresso που κάνω είναι απίστευτος.
Χρησιμοποιώ τον illy classic αλεσμένο από το market.
Που να πάρω και καφέ σε κόκκους!
