It is the first lens I have bought. I have a Nikon Z5. I had the Nikon Z 24-70 f4 and wanted something more versatile for travel and walks. It does that and more. I am new to this hobby and I do not have very high expectations because I have not handled the expensive lenses.

    - The 24-70 f4 seemed very good to me in terms of build quality and image quality. The build of the 24-120 f4 is more premium. The texture of its materials, the buttons and the rings, feel nicer. The image quality is almost the same, except this one goes up to 120mm instead of 70mm. Of course, it is considered exceptional to have consistent image quality across such a range.
    - It has two rings (one extra) and a button with a very good feel, as well as a focus switch like the 24-70 f4.
    - Compared to my old lens, I noticed that its focus is faster.
    - When you turn it on to take a photo, it is ready immediately, whereas the previous one had a first click that required a bit more force, as if it locked; otherwise it would show you a message to turn it on. I prefer this one that is ready.
    - Compared to the 24-70 f4, it is a little bigger and heavier. Nothing major for me, so I have no reason to keep the previous one.

It is considered one of the best and most versatile lenses on the market, and from the little I know, I think it is wonderful and I would buy it again.

  • The lens is sharp from edge to edge, with very good contrast & satisfactory close up. Much better than the 24-120 f/4 F-mount I have in every aspect.

It is my main lens on the Z5. During the day it is unbeatable and you can take anything from portraits to architecture and landscapes. But even in low light, it performs better than one would expect with f/4. The zoom range covers 90% of cases. My other lenses are primes and I use them for special purposes (e.g. astrophotography).

Excellent lens overall. Personally, I wanted such a lens for travel, where I believe there is nothing better than the 24-120 for this purpose, apart from the fact that it has great sharpness and gives you amazing photos whether at 24 or 120. As for the aperture which is a constant 4, I have no words. It is worth it and then some. (I got it in a kit with the Z6ii)

Excellent lens both in terms of construction and functionality. Super sharp everywhere, even at f4 it is extremely sharp from edge to edge and you feel like the photos were taken with an f8 aperture on a DSLR. It is no coincidence that it is the KIT lens of the Z6 series. It performs exceptionally well on the Z5. You can crop the photo as much as you want and the image remains unchanged, excellent! I recommend it, you won't regret it...
