Description

Description

The WiFi Extender from TP-LINK broadcasts a signal on two frequencies. It offers higher speeds compared to single-frequency extenders and allows connection of more devices. The 2.4Ghz frequency is the most widespread and, due to its long range, is usually congested by neighboring Wi-Fi signals, further complicating device communication. The 5Ghz frequency provides higher speed than the 2.4Ghz but is more sensitive to obstacles (e.g., walls) that reduce its range. This difference, along with its more limited use, helps it experience fewer interferences from other networks. The repeater can offer up to 1750Mbps in total to the devices connected to it. In practice, the actual speed shared among the devices is closer to 300Mbps. For reference, a high-resolution 4K movie requires about 25Mbps. The speed each connected device will have depends on the distance, obstacles, the number of other connected devices, the number of other networks in the same area, etc. It is of Wi-Fi 6 generation, the most modern Wi-Fi standard that offers speeds up to 40% higher than Wi-Fi 5. It coordinates communication with connected devices to consume less battery and works better in environments with many Wi-Fi devices. Ideal for homes with many smart devices. The connection via ethernet cable offers a speed of 1000Mbps (also known as Gigabit), which is the maximum speed that ethernet can support. It is usually found in professional environments where the transfer of large files (e.g., high-definition videos) is common, and in repeaters that support similarly high WLAN speeds.

Purchased purely as an extender and especially for mesh.

    Positives:
    - Very quick installation through the Tether app.
    - Nice management via the app.
    - 99.9% connected to the router. Very rarely loses connection and it reconnects in seconds.

    Negatives:
    - OneMesh is only offered if you have a router that supports mesh from the same company (speed port plus 2 was a flop).
    - At 9 meters from the router (112sqm house) full signal, but the speed is max 150Mbps on a 1000Mbps line. Truly disappointing.
    - The device gets quite hot. It burns after 1 hour of use.

Overall, it boosts the signal as promised but the speed... no no no

Very good extender. The only issue I encountered was that when I initially extended the router network using the WPS button, I had connection problems. Eventually, I reset it and installed it through the TP-LINK Tether app, so network extensions were created at 2.4 and 5 with the _ext extension.
By selecting the network with the 5_ext extension, I have very fast internet and in areas that previously did not have access to the router due to wall interference

Unfortunately, it was purchased as an extra for a little coverage (without being necessary) and it turned out to be a bad purchase. It gets stuck and although it appears to be functioning normally, it has completely lost contact with the router and needs to be unplugged and plugged back in to synchronize, something that tired me out and I completely removed it. I don't know if I fell into the case, but the mesh wifi doesn't seem to work as I imagined.

Very fast in installation, very easy in its settings, and very reliable. Everything is easily done with the mobile application and configuration is very easy. Very good signal and high speed. If combined with a Tplink Router, it can also function as a mesh (I bought a tplink router, I am so satisfied)
