Description

Control the flow of liquid using the flow of electrons! This liquid valve is ideal for robotic gardening projects, aquariums, or pools. It features two 1/2" (Nominal NPS) outlets. Normally, the valve is closed. When a 12VDC voltage is applied to the two terminals, the valve opens, allowing water to flow. Unlike the plastic solenoid valve, this one does not have a diaphragm, therefore minimal pressure is not required. However, it does not provide perfect sealing. When closed, drops may be observed when there is pressure from the water side. This solenoid valve was tested at various DC values and it was found that it can be activated even at 6VDC (albeit opening slightly slower). We recommend using a TIP120 or N-Channel power FET with a 1N4001 diode to drive it from a microcontroller pin. For power supply, a 12V 5A power adapter is suitable. If you prefer smaller and more basic valves, a plastic version is also available that requires minimal pressure but has much lower power requirements! These solenoid valves are not certified for food safety according to official standards. However, they are made of cast brass, with an NBR (Nitrile Rubber) gasket so that it can be used with any liquid that will not damage or degrade the gasket material.
