The front part has a gap so that the fingers do not touch during curing. Keeps the temperature on the nail low, thus reducing the burning sensation.

I realized that it basically cures after 30 seconds and I don't think the watts correspond that much to the lamp. Also, the polish needs to be applied in very thin layers for it to last. Whereas my old one could handle slightly thicker layers.
