Gold Rusch Foley catheter suitable for treating incontinence. Urinary incontinence is the medical term for the involuntary loss of urine. There are many reasons why men, regardless of age, may experience incontinence. The most common causes are the weakness or damage of the pelvic floor muscles, the inability to control bladder muscles, neurological conditions affecting voluntary urination, prostate hyperplasia, a urinary tract infection, and type 2 diabetes.

Incontinence can result from various medical conditions. One way to manage incontinence is through external catheters. For certain groups of people, the "permanent" catheterization of the bladder becomes a "way of life." Bladder catheterization and the presence of a permanent catheter is done in:

  • Neurological conditions – Central Nervous System (CNS) disorders.
  • Injuries – Spinal Cord disorders.
  • Cerebrovascular Accidents (Strokes).
  • Prostate hypertrophy.
  • Urinary retention.
