Coming from (we play the games as parents and children) the Violet/Scarlet games, Brilliant Diamond, Let's Go Eevee, and having reached 40 hours of gameplay in Arceus, I can now write the reasons why I don't like the game.
Arceus leaves me with the feeling that it wants to be a little bit of everything, while I was looking for a classic Pokemon game.
If I wanted 100+ quests, I would play WOW. If I wanted world exploration, farming, crafting and fights with alpha, frenzied characters & endless hours of gameplay, I would prefer WOW or Zelda again.
If I wanted to be on edge and train my fingers with 4 buttons at the same time to play a battle, or catch a pokemon, I would play db. Left stick, Right stick for aiming, X for switching pokemon and items, L, R for additional switching... Y for dodge, roll... and we were already tired, kids and adults alike...
The children don't enjoy it at all, and the only thing they can contribute to is playing battles with low-level pokemon or throwing balls crouched and catching pokemon.
You fall off the mount, you lose half your items too.
A pokedex full of tasks, numbers, as if it were a school progress report.
Pokemon have moves, effort level for each move, extra moves to buy, then master moves, and you also choose strong and agility moves in battle.
You now craft everything, from poke balls, potions, revive, etc., which means you need many hours of farming flowers, trees. You can also buy some things (not all), but it doesn't pay off.
Also very annoying is the fact that as soon as you enter a battle, the game cuts off half the screen... everything looks much smaller, fonts, etc. I never understood why they do this. Split view type, but you have to move the camera to see everything properly.
Every gaming experience is personal, even family-based in some cases, and that makes every review subjective too.
For anyone who wants things more simplified and the classic way of "catching pokemon, evolving them, choosing moves, playing fights with gym leaders or other pokemon, etc.", I would recommend not buying Arceus.
For anyone who has a lot of free time, wants to do many different requests, tasks, farming, and enjoy a game that combines many genres, they will enjoy it.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus is a game similar to Legend of Zelda that relates to the lore of Pokémon from the main series of games starting from Pokémon Red and Blue, but serving as a prequel to them as it is set in a time when people did not know much about Pokémon and their habits. To progress in the game, you must complete the story (main) quests and the requests (sidequests); the more difficult the quests are, the better the prizes you generally receive. Your main goal is to complete the entire Pokédex if you want to finish the post-game content of the game, with a minimum time of definitely 70 to 80 hours, in my opinion. I found the battle system and the crafting system quite interesting, with the latter requiring farming if you want to have a stock of good items. The world of the game is quite lively, with the AI of the Pokémon being very satisfactory, with graphics that could have been better but do not ruin the overall experience. There are also stronger Pokémon than the normal ones that will be more difficult to catch or defeat. For me, it is one of the best Pokémon games I have played, and I hope for a similar sequel from the Pokémon Company. Finally, for young children, I don't know how well they will be able to progress in the game and complete it, although the game has an age rating of 7+.

A good start with several issues. Having finished the game without catching only Arceus from the legendary ones (because you have to catch all the other Pokémon first), I believe I can express an opinion.

Positives:
- Open world Pokémon game with everything that entails.
- Very nice music.
- You see the Sinnoh region many years ago when they were starting to learn about Pokémon (if you check the maps, you will see they are the same).
- Very convenient mounts, especially the last two (the flying one makes everything much easier).
- I didn't encounter any bugs.
- Crafting system for Pokéballs and potions, etc.

Negatives:
- Mediocre graphics.
- The weirdest battle system I have encountered, opponent Pokémon are extremely slow, attacking three times before I can attack, the agile system seems to have no role, Pokémon 30 levels below me could defeat me with a neutral skill for no reason, and many other weird things. The roleplay goes out the window when it feels like they are playing with cheats. Either I would defeat a Pokémon in one hit or they would defeat me. There was no thrill.
- 2 very annoying battles - without spoiling - one with the noble is very annoying with a move that cannot be avoided, and one battle towards the end of the game is the most difficult in any Pokémon game, it is almost impossible and requires a lot of patience (and luck).
- Very few battles with trainers because they didn't exist back then.
- Weak story, uninteresting.
- Very empty world, maybe they should take ideas from Xenoblade, BOTW, etc. for the next one.

Recommended if you are a Pokémon fan and have always dreamed of a similar game, otherwise it is one of the most mediocre to bad Pokémon games I have played. Hopefully, in the next one, Nintendo's minds will move forward a bit because they are 10 years behind.

Well, having played the game quite a bit, I have formed a very good opinion. It introduces several changes that I consider significant:
1) Finally, you have the opportunity to catch a Pokémon through stealth, and you also see every Pokémon in front of you, either attacking you or running away from you.
2) There are no gyms and badges, but frenzied Pokémon that you essentially tame. I didn't mind it, but it wasn't my favorite aspect.
3) You have to farm various resources to make Pokéballs, revives, potions, etc., which is logical because it portrays a period without advanced technology.
4) Also, there aren't many battles with trainers because, simply put, there aren't many trainers. Your role in the game is to complete a Pokédex that resembles a botanical catalog. (As we said, it reflects the old days.)
5) An important change is that you can catch a Pokémon, but because it is essentially unknown to you, you have to study it for it to be considered "caught" in the Pokédex.
6) There are many secondary missions through which you catch Pokémon that you haven't caught before or help someone find something, etc. I quite liked this, as it adds a different dimension to the game and extends its duration.
7) The main story is interesting; you understand that something is happening, there is a mystery, so you gradually want to unlock the entire Hisui region and reach the end. It's "a bit" open-world, let's say.
8) A negative aspect for me is the graphics, which are washed out. Pokémon should have more vibrant colors, and the fact that there is no voice acting. I hope it will be added in a future game.

In conclusion, I would like to say that the game has left me with a nice feeling. I definitely want to open my OLED Switch and play. It's a game that changes the philosophy of Pokémon games quite a bit, and I hope that some of the elements introduced here will remain. I obviously recommend the game to everyone!

The best Pokemon game in my opinion brings a change to the series, something that was needed, it's something different and it achieves what it does very well.
The gameplay is the strong point of the game, very addictive and not repetitive, I would say one of the best gameplay experiences that the switch has to offer.
The story is also one of the best in the franchise, I would recommend going in spoiler free because it relies heavily on the questions it creates and mainly those drive the story forward and keep your interest.
The soundtrack is classic Pokemon value, although many are remixes from Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, they are all very good with a few exceptions.
The graphics are the worst thing about this game, although an upgrade from the graphics of Sword and Shield, they are still terrible compared to other modern titles on the Switch, it's especially disappointing considering the money that Game Freak has and could have invested in the graphics.
Finally, unfortunately (or fortunately), this title is mainly single player and doesn't offer much in the multiplayer aspect, the only thing you can do is trades, online battling has been removed.

As a Pokémon fan since the release of Color, there was no chance I wouldn't buy it to see the "greatest evolution" of the game so far.
The open world and the overall idea are very good, and of course, since we live in 2022, we want this evolution. However, in my opinion, the result is not as good as we expected.
I will talk a little about the negatives and what I didn't like.
- Graphics... The graphics are not good, especially in some moments when you are, for example, under a tree and looking from above, it looks very bad, but it's not to the point where you can't handle it.
- Sound... The sound and music are very good, but there is a lack of sound in the dialogues. In 2022, characters should have voices.
- Dialogues... We're talking about a lot of blah blah and meaningless conversations many times. Personally, it bored me a lot at some points, especially at the beginning of the game.

The tasks you have to do for the Pokédex are a very good idea, although I would have liked to level up and evolve the Pokémon instead of having some "silly" tasks, like catching a Pokémon 10 times.

The conclusion is that it is a very nice game that will definitely keep you engaged for many hours, but it still needs improvements.
