Description

Description

The WiFi Extender from AVM broadcasts three signals, one at 2.4GHz and two separate ones at 5GHz. It offers higher speeds compared to single-band and more efficient connection of multiple devices compared to dual-band. The 2.4GHz frequency is the most widespread and, as it has a long range, it is usually congested by neighboring Wi-Fi signals, further complicating device communication. The 5GHz provides higher speed than the 2.4GHz but is more sensitive to obstacles (e.g., walls) that reduce its range. This difference, along with its more limited use, helps it have fewer interferences from other networks. The repeater can offer up to 2400Mbps in total to the devices connected to it. In practice, the actual speed shared among the devices is closer to 350Mbps. Indicatively, a high-resolution 4K movie requires about 25Mbps. The speed each connected device will have depends on the distance, obstacles, how many other devices are connected, how many other networks are in the same area, etc. It is Wi-Fi 6 generation, the most modern Wi-Fi standard that offers speeds up to 40% higher than Wi-Fi 5. It coordinates communication with connected devices to consume less battery and works better in environments with many Wi-Fi devices. Ideal for homes with many smart devices. The connection via ethernet cable offers a speed of 1000Mbps (also known as Gigabit), which is the maximum speed that ethernet can support. It is usually found in professional environments where the transfer of large files (e.g., high-definition videos) is a frequent occurrence, and in repeaters that support correspondingly high WLAN speeds.

It keeps throttling down with the Nova router. I can't figure out why, but for 214 euros I expected something better. German quality no longer exists. A cheap Chinese one did a better job relatively.

The description is completely wrong! As it states, its model has a total speed of 6000 Mbps. To achieve this, it has two bands at 5GHz and of course, it is WiFi6. In a three-story single-family house, I needed several powerlines and extenders, but with this one and in combination with the modem router 7590ax (from Avm), I am covered better and comfortably. It works (automatically with unified meshing) only with another AVM device. Unfortunately, it cannot be automatically combined in unified meshing with TP-Link WiFi6 extenders. Also, it has two LAN outputs, one gigabit and the other 2.5x gigabit - which can be downgraded to gigabit (configurable) for savings. After all, how easy is it to find a device that can utilize such speed?! When you connect wirelessly, the speeds can be much better than via LAN, you send heavy files (videos) to the media server with fantastic speed... If you have an "ecosystem" all with AVM devices, everything runs smoothly (e.g., smart devices like thermostats or DECT phones: Fritz! Fon). I have had them for maybe two years and they work flawlessly. It has very good applications and interface (this and the router - check online for what amazing features they have) and it often updates automatically. You spend once but then you can relax. I recommend it 100%!

It worked immediately with the fritz router and fritz phones. It extends the range up to 100 meters even outside the house. Fantastic extender!

Tremendous, by far the best. There are no negatives, you get what you pay for.
I have a COSMOTE 1Gbps Fiber connection, I have connected it to the 2.5gbps ethernet from the Fritz box 5530 router and I consistently get 920Mbps wireless in the room where I have it with my Macbook.

By far the best extender of avm may be the price, but the ease of connection to a mesh network and its range is more than enough (at least in my case)
