- Attention: With every generous “coat” you apply, a nice black glossy result should be created each time. If any area is matte, it means you haven’t sprayed the required amount!
- When the temperature is low, there is a possibility that plasti dip® may not spray evenly because it gets cold. The best thing to do is to place the spray in warm water for 5-10 minutes or warm it up on a radiator. This softens the mixture inside and gives the smooth result you want.
- Before painting a car or motorcycle with plasti dip®, it’s a good idea not to have previously applied any polish or wax, as this may prevent proper adhesion of the plasti dip®.
- Never paint a car or motorcycle if it has just been painted with factory paint. At least one year must pass to avoid problems with the lacquer.
- When you want to make a stripe on a surface for a straight line, you should remove the tape on the sixth “coat” (which is enough for a good result) while the plasti dip® is still wet. This is because plasti dip® has the property of liquefying again when sprayed onto an already painted surface. Otherwise, if you remove the tape once it dries, it will damage the straight line you’ve created.
- Always hold the spray or the spray gun vertically to the surface when spraying. The distance should be 10-15 cm.
- It is best to spray in a space without wind, as air may carry the material and cause the mist to dry in unwanted places. This will result in a sandpaper-like texture instead of a smooth surface.
- Always clean the surface well before painting and make sure there is no moisture in any crevices.
- In low temperature periods, each “coat” will need more time to dry.
- You can wash your car or motorcycle about 10 days later, even with a pressure washer, without fear. The first period you should be a bit more careful. As the days go by, the plasti dip® gets much stronger. We recommend applying the special Dip Protect wax about every month and a half.
- The ratio of thick plasti dip® to thinner for spraying with a gun is 1:1. There is also pre-thinned plasti dip® spray available, which has a much better composition, coverage, and durability and can be sprayed directly.
- To spray plasti dip® properly, the spray gun should have a 1.5-2mm nozzle, low pressure (1.5-2 bar), be able to spray in a vertical open fan, and the amount should be adjustable because the first “coat” should be light to create a base (about 50% coverage). The remaining 6 “coats” must be generous.
- At least 6 good “coats” must be applied, especially for large surfaces such as a car, so you can remove it in large pieces and without difficulty when you want.
- Never wash with active foam commonly used in car wash stations. Only use simple soapy water.
- Be very careful with gasoline. Contact with plasti dip® can cause it to fade. It is recommended to inform gas station staff.
- High Gloss Top Coat: Apply 3 good “coats” for the ideal result. Leave about 30 minutes between each “coat”. Spray quickly with the gun to avoid runs. The smoother the plasti dip® underneath, the greater the reflection of the high gloss top coat will be.
