Crystal polyphosphate is ideal for installation in filters in the water supply of washing machines or dishwashers and generally wherever water hardness reduction is needed. 

Polyphosphate crystals dissolve in water and essentially coat elements such as iron, calcium, magnesium, etc., making it impossible for these elements to precipitate out of the water and create the known problems associated with hard water, such as salt formation in pumps and washing machine resistors.
