Very beautiful and elegant backpack with top quality materials. Extremely lightweight and with a relatively satisfactory capacity for its size. It comfortably fits a 1.5-liter bottle on the sides (in the photos, what I have is a 946ml thermos), and it holds it very well without moving or falling out. The texture of the fabric it is made from is similar to that of a waterproof jacket. Its "back" is relatively sturdy and retains its shape even though it is flexible, but it does not provide good ventilation like other Osprey backpacks, resulting in a lot of sweating on the back. I use it for hiking as a secondary backpack on short trails where you don't need to carry many things. The "patent" with the two small holes on the right and left at the bottom of the outer pocket (the one with the tightening straps) is very good, as it does not have a zipper to close from the top, it collects dust and various small twigs, pine needles, etc., when you get tangled in bushes and trees. These holes allow you to push these impurities out with a finger, thus cleaning the bottom of the pocket. When I discovered this, I was amazed. They have really thought of everything over there at Osprey.

Update 2024: Perhaps the only negative I find is that it is not very "stable," especially when loaded with 2-3 liters of water (essential for summer hikes in the mountains, where I use it). By stable, I mean in terms of how it sits on the body. Larger backpacks like the Rook50 that I have from the same brand, due to their sturdy frame, are much more stable and comfortable without swaying back and forth with every movement. Of course, if you use it in your daily life with a light load, you won't have such an issue.

After particularly thorough research, I ended up choosing this specific backpack and I am very satisfied.

I needed a backpack with small capacity that would accompany me on trips, day excursions, walking, cycling, etc. Whoever buys it should be aware of the use for which it is intended.

Osprey is known for its amazing AirSpeed system with mesh that essentially keeps the backpack away from your back for ventilation. However, in this particular backpack, to keep the weight low, they use AirScape which is not as effective but does a pretty good job. Definitely a big difference from other simpler backpacks I've had in the past.

The most classic load I carry is keys, wallet, phone, hat, 500ml water bottle, and power bank. The Daylite is so light and has such good support that most of the time, even when full, I don’t even notice I’m carrying it. When empty, it’s like a feather.

The materials are very durable (I read somewhere that it’s made from 11 plastic bottles -- recycling in other words). And the blue one I bought, although I was hesitant at first, is a very nice royal blue up close. It doesn’t look like what you see on the screen.

I would have liked it to have a special loop on the back for a warning light for cars when walking at night, but there are so many spots where I can attach one that it’s not a problem.

In terms of size, it’s small and quite flat in profile but can expand if needed by loosening the straps. Exactly what I wanted. Of course, you can easily take it on a plane.

In terms of capacity, it fits what I mentioned above plus a jacket or sweatshirt and a laptop. Externally, you can also attach something small.

Be careful to buy the Daylite 2021 model and not the 2020 one (you’ll know because the 2021 has a horizontal back pocket, not a vertical one). It’s important to get the 2021 model because it has larger side pockets and the water bottle doesn’t fall out. (I also saw the 2022 model up close and it’s the same)

EDIT: One year later, the backpack has remained flawless without problems even with hard use. I’ve gone hiking with camera gear, keys, phone, and water bottle without issue.

EDIT2: For those who say it doesn’t have many storage spaces, I paired it with a Grid-It Organizer Case which fits in the main compartment (where the laptop goes) and holds tons of small items. It’s also quite light. I’ve carried all the GoPro or drone accessories. Almost 2 years later with daily use, the Daylite Plus has proven to be very high quality without a single damage. A similar Thule backpack had its chest strap break after much less use. Osprey all the way!

EDIT3: 2023 and it’s still flawless with no problems/tears with almost daily use/travel/excursions and cycling. I threw away the Thule because a strap broke.

EDIT4: 2024 going strong, daily use and after 6 trips this year to various continents where I pushed it hard, it never let me down for a moment. No holes and generally no damage. The color isn’t as vibrant anymore but it’s been washed so many times in the washing machine and seen so much sun that it’s not surprising.

EDIT5: In 2025, the chest strap buckle broke (yes, the one with the little whistle!). I think I broke it myself by stepping on it by accident, but I’m not sure. The positive thing is that all Osprey products are covered by the lifetime *All Mighty Guarantee*, and here’s where I want to share an extremely positive experience with their customer service. The process is very simple: you register on their site, fill in the product details, and upload relevant photos of the problem. Two days later, I received a shipping confirmation for the replacement part that had broken! If the bag is torn, you can even send it in for repair. Truly amazing! Other than that, although it has faded slightly in some spots, the bag remains p-e-r-f-e-c-t.

EDIT6: In 2026 I gave it to my son and got the Osprey Hikelite 26L which now has AirSpeed and I’ll use it for travel. For everyday use, I bought the Osprey Sportlite 20L which is good but not as good as the Daylite and Hikelite in terms of pockets and practicality
