Description

The modern lens Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary Lens for Sony E features an optical design based on the 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN | Art, renowned for its exceptional optical performance across the zoom range. It is lighter and more compact than other 28-70 mm lenses, making it ideal for everyday use.

It includes three aspherical, two FLD, and two SLD elements that create high-resolution images with improved color accuracy, allowing users to produce images with uniform sharpness from the center to the edges of the frame. Constant aperture at 2.8 and very convenient size at a very good price. At F/2.8 the focus is very thin so the ideal is around F/4 where it performs better. With 28-70mm it covers a wide range and with the constant aperture, I haven't felt the need for a prime lens. The build quality is excellent, the zoom ring is as stiff as needed with smooth movement, and the autofocus works fine (Lumix S5) although a bit "noisy." The focus ring is also as it should be, even though it's focus by wire.

This review is about the mount: Sony E

Excellent. In terms of sharpness, it's amazing! I believe the equivalent Tamron would also be quite good, which is noticeably cheaper. Personally, I chose this one because of its more premium feel and build quality. But from what I've seen from friends who have the Tamron equivalent, there aren't really many differences...

This review is about the mount: Sony E

I wanted a small general-purpose zoom lens that would fit my small Sony A7c. After watching countless videos and reviews, I ended up choosing this one mainly because of its price, size/weight, and I can now say, after two years of continuous use, that I am completely satisfied with what it offers. It was the first lens I attached to the camera and so far, it has never disappointed me. It is perhaps my favorite.

In my eyes, it seems to be of high quality construction, sturdy, and lightweight at the same time. The image performance in both photos and videos is very good. I haven't encountered any issues with autofocus. It works perfectly fine for gimbal shots. I have used it for portraits, street photography, landscapes, products, live events, YouTube, social media, travels - basically everything - and I am extremely satisfied.

If there is something extra that I would like, it would be for it to reach 24mm as the 28mm it reaches doesn't seem wide enough for me (especially for landscapes and architecture). But you can't have it all, especially if you're looking for something more budget-friendly.

So, I conclude that for its price and for camera categories like the one I use, it is a very good choice.

The lens has amazing build quality and feels great in the hand. It pairs very well with the a7C. I am very satisfied with the sharpness and rendering it provides on the camera's 24mp. Before purchasing, I searched countless reviews and watched videos on YouTube. Now I am very happy with my choice. Much cheaper and smaller than other options in the 24-70mm range.
