It is a sharpener specifically for freehand drawing. I do not recommend it for pencils that will be used for writing. Lyra is a very good quality brand. Unfortunately, this particular sharpener, although it has an incredibly good and sturdy feel for plastic, does not give me the point I expected. I recommend the Longpoint by Kum. It costs around 0.60 cents and always gives the perfect point! (It is also slightly longer than the Lyra one). This one here is 5/5 stars in material quality but 3.5/5 in performance. The Kum Longpoint is 4/5 in plastic quality but 6/5 in sharpening performance! Overall, when it comes to sharpeners, the best ones by far (especially for freehand drawing) are the KUM ones.
