Cardiology Paper and Electrocardiogram

The electrocardiogram or ECG is the recording of the currents produced in the heart that reach the surface of the body. An electrocardiograph records the currents through electrodes placed at specific points and prints them on paper.

The electrocardiogram reflects the electrical state of the heart. It records the present and disturbances of the past. Based on other information from history and examination, an assessment of the condition is made.

Preventive Electrocardiogram

• Men over 40 years or women over 50 who have no health problems are advised to have an electrocardiogram every 3 to 5 years.
• If there are factors for cardiovascular problems, it is advisable to check every two years.
• Additionally, if there is a family history of heart attacks or strokes under 60 years old, check-ups should be done at a younger age and every two years.
