The so-called "Hum" in audio systems is usually due to loop effects that behave like antennas. These loops can easily create harmonics at 60 Hz (and above) that are transmitted through the electrical wiring. These loops are connected through the grounds, known as "ground loops".
The safest way to eliminate such unwanted noise is with the CleanBOX II.
- Grounding the power supply of a synthesizer, connected to the signal ground of the synth, to the ground of the console, and then to the power supply ground of the console.
- The signal ground of an effects unit (reverb, delay) to a console, and the connected power grounds of the console and the unit.
The CleanBOX II easily removes ground loops without any loss of signal.
