Description

Description

The internationally recognized clinical psychologist Jordan B. Peterson has influenced the modern understanding of personality and has become one of the most famous intellectuals of our time.

His lectures cover topics ranging from romantic relationships and child-rearing to mythology and the Bible, and have been attended by tens of millions of viewers around the world. In an era of unprecedented change and vast political and social polarization, his sincere and refreshing message about the value of individual responsibility and the wisdom of the ancient world has found global resonance.

In this book, now considered a milestone for personal development, he presents 12 fundamental and practical rules for how to live a meaningful life – from putting our house in order before criticizing anyone else, to comparing ourselves to who we were yesterday, not to who someone else is today.

Happiness is a futile goal, Peterson argues, and urges us to seek meaning instead, not for the sake of meaning itself, but as a resistance against the pain that is inherent to our existence.

Drawing on poignant examples from his sessions and personal life, modern psychology and philosophy, along with lessons from humanity's oldest myths, the 12 Rules for Life offer a lifesaving antidote to the chaos of our lives: timeless truths that apply to our contemporary problems.

Incredible book, decent translation (although having read the original, I would translate some parts differently). The value of the content is such that practically the book is free. Buy it for your children and see them become better and stronger individuals day by day. I wish I could have read it ten years ago, my life would have definitely taken a much better turn. However, even now I feel grateful that this book fell into my hands. I highly recommend it with great enthusiasm and without the slightest reservation.

Amazing book!!
Jordan Peterson is excellent!!
The one star is because the translation seems like it came from copy-pasting on Google Translate.
Shame on the editor who allowed it to be published like this.

Peterson has a solid foundation in many psychological ideas — and often presents them with power and depth. However, he mixes science with philosophy and personal beliefs, and for this reason, his work requires careful reading. It is not 'pure' psychology, it is a mixture – and as such, it has value but not infallible authority.

Archie burchi and loulas. The book is terrible. Read the 12 rules in summary. It will be better. The author is excessively verbose and full of associations that tire you out and make you lose the meaning. By the time you finish the chapter, you have forgotten the rule and cannot understand what it is at all. Give it a try. The only certain thing is that it is not a self-improvement book. Propagandistic perhaps, but not self-improvement. The author should stick to the 30-second to 1-minute videos on the internet. After all, there is competition in writing. Wasted money and free time

Jordan Peterson is one of those people that you either love or hate. The book is very good although it tends to drag a bit in its introductory examples before getting to the heart of each rule.
Having watched countless videos of his, I believe he is a better speaker than writer. Nevertheless, the book is a little treasure.

The book is amazing. I wish I had read this book at 20 or 25 instead of 30+. However, the translation is HORRIBLE. The translator seems to not understand the text, resulting in a word-for-word translation that makes no sense, of course. I wonder how the editor allowed this thing to be published. You have to read the same sentence over and over again and have listened to the author's relevant speeches to understand what he means from the context. I have read the book in English and, although it is by no means light reading, it still makes sense even to someone who is not familiar with academic texts. Therefore, if you know decent English, prefer the original. If not, you will forget your Greek.

  • Peterson has a solid foundation in many psychological ideas — and often presents them with power and depth. However, he mixes science with philosophy and personal beliefs, and for this reason, his work requires careful reading. It is not 'pure' psychology, it is a mixture – and as such, it has value but not infallible authority.

  • Archie burchi and loulas.

  • Jordan Peterson is one of those people that you either love or hate. The book is very good although it tends to drag a bit in its introductory examples before getting to the heart of each rule.
Having watched countless videos of his, I believe he is a better speaker than writer. Nevertheless, the book is a little treasure.

  • The book is amazing.

  • In several points it becomes a little tiresome. The author repeats himself! In general, it keeps your interest until the end. Maybe you will understand it better with a second reading.
